Is there such a thing as a critical listening guide?

I'm interested in learning more about how to identify specific frequencies by ear and how to better describe the shbjective nature of sound and what I'm hearing so I can provide more meaningful advice when comparing equipment I have on hand. Is there anything like a guide for understanding? Ideal would be one that includes example audio samples.

I posted a link to the Harmon test in a similar thread I created a short time ago. I can't paste it with my phone for some reason. Just check the threads I have started, and you will find it fairly easily.

for the second part of your question (describe the nature of sound, and the meaning of audiophile buzzwords), the Chesky demo CD should be a good start

I vaguely remember something, and I wonder if anyone can put a name or link to it?

It was a guide to consistency in assessing audio equipment (or maybe it was just about speakers, I'm not sure. It consisted of a questionnaire approach, with several pages of questions and scores on different specific aspects of the listening experience. Of course, it's all subjective still, but this was about the most objective subjective I ever saw in audio.

Would love if someone could find it. I have trouble getting the Golden Ears site to load.
