Alright..since I haven´t seen any "LHL Source" thread yet I thought I start one (especially since some of you guys have a good relationship with LHL).

Got some questions regarding the so called "Unique Dual Power Design" which is described on their market store page as:

"Larry designed a complex power supply star system for the whole Geek Source board. From the beginning of power input, we have TWO separated 12V DC input sockets. One dedicated to audio related circuit, if you have Pulse LPS4 or LPS8, that is the place you should plug-in. It will use its Super Quiet Linear Power to power up the master audio clocks (Femto clocks), USB 3.0 output part, and digital clocks transmission IC.

The other socket provide the power for the rest, including CPU, WiFi, Hard drive, and our 5'' touch screen.

For your convenience, if you want to plug-in one power only. That is no problem. The main power socket will automatic power up the audio power socket if there is no audio power plug-in."

Since a pic says more than 1000 words:

So the "LPS" labelled 12V socket is the one which should be used best with the LPS4 or LPS8 which means that the max. amperage of this "LPS" socket can´t exceed 1.2A (since this is the max. amperage of the LHL LPS 12V outputs rails).
Pls correct me if I´m wrong here.

Not clear to me from the description above if the other Source´s 12V input ("Main") could also be used with a LPS4/8 (and hence would also stay within the max. 1.2 A range). Does anybody know?

Further remaining questions from my side are:
    i) what is the required amperage for the "Main" socket?
ii) would I have any benefit using two separate Linear Power Supplies instead of one (used with the "Main" socket which will power up the "rest")?

    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers.

    1) The total current we need to power up Source depends on the SSD or mechanical hard drive we used inside. Generally it is around 1.2A to 500mA. M-HD requires a lot of power to spin up...

    2) Yes. But I would suggest you use 1A 12V for LPS first. Then see how the other 1A 12V on main (which power the digital none-audio related parts) will benefit you.

    Cheers,

    Thx Larry,

does that mean that one LPS with 12V/3A (not a GEEK LPS) would be sufficient for the "Main" socket to power up also the master audio clocks (Femto clocks), USB 3.0 output part, and digital clocks transmission IC (included in "LPS" socket)?
