Pono wins "snakeoil of the year" award from linustechtips

I think the Pono hate train was already well underway by the time Neil pulled that stunt, which I agree was silly considering that his music is still played on the far inferior FM radio.

 

I will never buy it because it has a stupid shape.

 

The shape is actually great for everything but putting the player in your pocket. You can lay the Pono on its side and read/interact with the screen without moving your upper body or grabbing it to tilt it up like you would have to with a typical slab DAP. And it feels good in the hand too. I thought the shape was silly too, but it's actually pretty well designed.

 

+1. For me, daps will always be for portable use, and the shape of the thing is totally unsuitable for pocketing. That said, i've spent some time with one, and it does sound good. The marketing bs on its own would have been enough to prevent me from buying one though. Made me laugh however.
