Thank you Mike! I appreciate your quest to keep costs down, and I also appreciate the complete cluelessness of some people, but I think you’re making the right decision in making the Sol dual speed out of the box. Adjusting the belt to change speed isn’t uncommon in many turntables on the market today and hopefully does not cause too many headaches for you as you deal with customers who are new to vinyl (although I suspect on the list of ways a turntable can frustrate a neophyte, adjusting the belt to change speed would be low on the list).

IMO...Roon + Yggdrasil = Nirvana....I did vinyl many years ago (3 armed TT, the whole shebang...)....with the digital quality where it is currently, vinyl is complete waste of time and money!

10 people in the same room... does the same sweet spot apply to everyone?

Well, my turntable is in the cupboard, and likely to stay there, but I'm not shouting about that on the blog thread of a guy who is just now selling... a new turntable.

What a dumb post - coming from someone who also doesn't do vinyl.

Haven't tried vinyl in years, but again, the reason I promote Schiit products and enjoy them is they don't make Bull Schiit claims.

Stick to the truth, and nothing wrong with just saying we make this or that, it's up to you to decide if it's an upgrade.

I actually would like to hear vinyl again, but keep doing what you do so well Schiit. Making products in various categories = GREAT. Without the crap other companies layer on. It's not needed.

Tapes have limited resolution too, and so does Vynil. We get free dithering and randomness using these formats, but they aren't perfect either. I'm sure I'll get beat up for pointing this out, but hey it's just facts.

Enjoy the music and go see shit live for the full experience.

Vinyl has better DR than almost every digital counterpart.

    EDIT: corrected below

Except that statement is not true. Regular vinyl, at its best, is 80dB. Red Book can do 90dB. I had a DBX decoder and DBX records. That vinyl had more dynamic range than CDs.

Almost every time I look at an album on DR database the vinyl version has better DR.

The reported DR for vinyl rips is fake. The tool used to measure DR in this manner cannot be used on vinyl. Even the dude who wrote the DR Meter software admitted it doesn't work for it.

The video below is by mastering engineer Ian Shepard who explains why. This isn't meant to throw fuel on the fire of an analog vs. digital debate; just clearing up a common misconception.

That's not a function of the medium.

Ok, well good to know. I don't have a vinyl setup to compare to my digital I was going by what I was seeing at DR database. Good to know and thanks for the correction.

Great. Another analog vs. digital debate. Maybe this one will settle things, once and for all.

Lol! You're right, dude. Let's drop this and move onto more important discussions.

If you buy new, they are used the second you put them on. I say buy used and save from the depreciation.

    New.

Because the recent thought of wearing Jude's old underwear has, I am sure, scarred me for life.

Thanks @Dino, and @DigMe This is your fault. *Twitch*
