If a reviewer was producing a high volume of work, yeah maybe. But surely there are reviewers who just review gear without monetising?

Enthusiasm isn't everything. Mao zedong was enthusiastic about making the world a better place in his vision, but that didn't make him a good leader. The problem with zeos is that he started out with too little experience to be a reviewer and now he has to stick with his noob-for-the-noobs style to hold on to his viewers.

Yeah. An audio gear-reviewing boob and a dictator responsible for the death of 30 million people is definitely an apt comparison. You people take yourselves way too seriously. Nobody is forcing you ( or anyone else) to watch him, or to buy his "shitty" smsl gear. When and by whom was the decision made to appoint posters on sbaf as arbiters of what is "shitty" gear or lousy reviewers? When did this become Computer Audiophile?

I have no problem with anyone posting reviews on youtube. To each his own.

But, personally, I can't fathom what it is people like about this guy. My favorite part is that he says he did all these listening tests before the video, so he could be prepared, and yet we have to sit here and watch him switch amps and randomly shuffle through his music collection all over again (and apparently during an earthquake?).

    I don't get it.

Also, he seems to find it difficult to spell the word Orpheus?

    The whole thing is just...strange.

I watch his reviews for the humor, as he says some funny lines and does have some good points every now and then. Break your face in was pretty good.

Okay, I think I get it now. I was taking this review way to serious. He isn't meaning to be taken seriously. He's just messing around for a laugh. Now I can appreciate the review way more....NOT.

I liked him when he was in his messy rat's nest of a room reviewing semi-obscure chinese audio gear. particularly SMSL stuff since nobody else was doing it. Now all he reviews is stuff everybody has or is reviewing.

What strikes me as odd is that he's supposed to install home theatre setups (or it may have been PA setups for churches and the likes) for clients as a job yet every new speaker he reviews is the best he's ever heard?

We might not. I'm a very dry humor kind of person-- love my British and Seinfeld type of comedies. There isn't much that's dry about Z-Reviews, but nevertheless I still do appreciate them. He speaks his mind and says what he hears, even if he can't find the rightest words to describe what he's hearing. The world of high-end headphones needs more guys like that. Ideally, everybody would have a high end measuring rig and describe exactly what's wrong with certain regions of a headphone's sound, and say if they're the right balance or not, like Tyll. If that can't happen, I'd personally take a reviewer like Z's impressions.

To be clear, I'm not objecting to his listening impressions. He thinks the highs are sibilant, cool. He can't hear the difference in the MB Bifrost and his current DAC. That's fine (even if his methods are flawed). I can take all that with a grain of salt and have no issues with his opinions.

    All good.

It's the completely unorganized presentation, rambling reviews, and shaky camera. Do your listening, take some notes, and give me your impressions in a clear and concise way. That's all.

I'm far more inclined to enjoy a review by LinusTechTips, etc.

Sounds like you're not familiar with the history of our site and our approach when it comes out calling out BS. We've been doing it for years now.

Best to retreat to your /r/zeos safe-space friend.

Comparing people to Hitler when arguing about equipment is the about the minimum requirement needed to be considered intellectual hi-fi talk.

The rambling and head pov camera is part of why I like his reviews as well. They're not so much formal reviews as his musings about gear, which I find interesting and refreshing.

    1. Just because we're not forced to watch something doesn't change whether it's good or bad, or whether its quality can be discussed. This is such a red herring.
    2. Critiquing a reviewer needs no permission. Just like when you approved of the same reviewer a page back, which is the same thing as critiquing, just that you reached a positive conclusion whereas a number of others here reached negative conclusions. Don't be a hypocrite.

I know what a gamer is, but ricer? Is that a different type of gamer? I have herd of cars from Japan that have been modified called ricers. But that does not fit the context.
