..as much as possible. So I was looking at thick sorbothane pads and other options (SVS's Soundpath) but it would be really useful to get first hand experience before blindly shooting in the dark
I thought I was being wise with my setup and subs. I volume matched the system, got placement done all nice, then asked my neighbors if I could come over and test it. I discovered exactly what volume level they couldn't hear, and never went above that.
Problem is, it announced to them I had a sound system, so any noise issues of any kind immediately got directed at me. Passing cars blaring music, other neighbors playing music, you name it.
I wish you luck with your neighbor. I have a horrible neighbor who pounds on our shared wall at the slightest hint of bass. I had to set the front speaker size to small and crossover to 200hz with my sub turned off. No problems with her anymore but now movies sound like shit. Can't wait to buy a house, hopefully this fall.
Yeah i dont expect things to be easy, but so far I've only had one of my two neighbors complain once, and that was when the music was so loud that I literally said "sorry, gimme a minute I can't hear you over the music" when she came by to complain :p
So yeah, I'm trying to make sure I never really start the complaints, it's always the case that once that gate opens up there's no going back.
Yeah I'm looking to minimise, not completely block. Not going to spend that much effort. Plus, most of my audio is music (rock/metal/jazz/etc) so I dont expect to be putting out waves that low
