The Philips has more low end. It is a better fun headphone although it can sound great with Classical music. Organ music sounds amazing but YMMV...

Soundstage and treble extension is a bit better on the SHPs, but I have leather pads on my 6XX, which makes the lows more than the SHPs. The SHPs sound very thin in the mids and lows after using the Senns.

The prices are much better now than they were 3 months ago. 1080 Ti's were about 1200-1500, 1070s were 800-900 and 1060s were 400-500. Everything at Fry's this weekend was within 10% of MSRP except AMD cards.

You must now eat a chocolate covered fish, whilst singing a song you wrote about Jude, and stream it live. (“Hey Jude” covers will not be accepted. Creepily touching his backpack when he isn’t looking would be a good lyrical place to start, PM @BillOhio for more).

imho the need to tweak is overstated. I have a 40-yr-old Thorens (albeit with a new SME arm) and it's been set-and-forget over the past 12+ months. Just wash your records before playing and store in decent anti-stat inners, and Bob's yer uncle. I would have bet my car that there was no chance I'd prefer the sound of my vinyl rig to my far more expensive DAC...

..Turns out I was wrong. DAC sounds softer and less involving in comparison. Problem with "going vinyl" is the price of the music, and the variable quality of modern releases. However, crate digging used records in a really good store is heaven on earth.

It can be as deep or as shallow as you want. I have an Technics TT from my dads basement, they are still cheap to buy though. 50 bucks for a new stylus, a 15 dollar belt, and a mani. Get a Sol when it comes out, find a cart you like, a decent phono preamp and you may not need anything else, unless you're a little crazy and hate money.

So as a result of this (and the talk k.e. started in shoutbox about those new closed cans), I'm back on Head-fi for a quick stroll.

MOAR bass on the closed cans +10-12kHz sizzle prolly means I'll not prioritise demoing them, cool as they look. Talk on the BIMBY (which I'm getting soon...) IS irritating, but potentially educational in the long term.

Poor master? I enjoy Tidal sometimes but there can also be the typical issues with masters. When they first started the MQA thing I listened through some of the albums and some had awful masters. Talking Heads' Remain in Light MQA version is totally effed.
