Did that guy really title his thread “Advice for Schiit...” or did a mod change it to that? Apr 1, 2020 at 6:50 PM

Yeah I read through the first page.. just couldn’t believe some rando gave such a pompous title to his thread.

I think that it was simply split off from another, longer thread?

He didn't title it that himself, it was a mod split from the Magni 3+ thread. Admit being mildly surprised at how *eager* they were about things, I ended up getting my heckles raised enough to stick my nose in.

        Dammit.

@Gaspasser I haven’t been in China since January 20 so it’s all good. We left for vacation and then all hell broke loose. We hung out in Thailand for awhile but today we flew in from Singapore.

There's some audiophool bullshit there, supporting the CD's are best thesis, but, on the whole, classical methods to play classical music seem to make sense.

But there is more audiopholery. Does it matter if the data is "streamed" from Scandanavia or Bristol? Not a jot (cf Archimago)

But does it matter if it passes through software that compresses it, or gets played on some end device that, apparently, was never meant to sound better than a 1980s radio alarm clock anyway?

(Is it true that these devices compress? I know nothing about them and don't want/need anything to do with them?)

Most people here don't care if their music comes from a local hdd or a data farm in Timbuk3. But they care very much what happens to it next. That's why we are here.

41C is pretty bad even for those of us that are used to it in mid summer and who don't go much under +20C in mid winter. I am not sure if I would have ever experienced -16C: I don't think my parts of UK ever got that cold. Freezing, yes, but maybe not -16C freezing.
