I have 2 tix for this show that we (sadly) won’t be able to use. This is a great outdoor venue, with a casual community vibe; the blankets and chairs and open pit in front of the stage for the hardcore fans. With some luck around the weather it’s a magical place in late spring. Worth a trip if you haven’t experienced the 500 shades of green at this time of year in Vermont.

I’ve met Radu several times in his garage workshop and he’s a great builder with a great ear. That amp is a deal for the right person.

I was looking at their passives awhile back and decided not to pull the trigger at the time. I don't see the A500 in their lineup anymore, I assume the Anniversary 10 replaced it?

That's correct. The A500 SE is similar to the current A10 but has a second Purifi 6.5 mounted to the rear of the cabinet. Pretty powerful bass response for a small monitor. It cost about $1200 more than the current model; I think it was a bit pricey for their target market hence the A10.

ok... so then they don't really have an powered equivalent to the S400mkii anymore (which is what I almost pulled the trigger on)... strange.

consider a service like uShip to get these across the USA. I recommend listing these on Hifihaven as there are a lot of DIY Altec enthusiasts there

You may consider adding physical dimensions, info on the sensitivity (if you have it) and maybe a link to a site with more info on these DIY type speakers (for those of us that don't have the knowledge). FWIW, they are gorgeous, but I'm afraid they would be physically too large for me

Sound is killer for a live recording, but it's the incredible backing performances from an amateur church band/choir that are so astonishing. The "Complete" is much better than the original 1972 record as it preserves the original performance sequence. It's on Spotify and Tidal to check out. There's also a great documentary film if you get intrigued.

@yotacowboy - the stereo serves as TV output as well. My 22yo son wanted to watch a movie with his gf when we were away. Even with help he just could not get it to fire up (he had changed some inputs). Ended up turning up the in-TV speakers which had never been used. And he was just fine with the resulting sound.

My wife enjoys music (but taps out at Sun Ra) and likes how the rig sounds but she would NEVER have set something like this up on her own. Takes a special kind of weirdo.
