I read that. Later on he says how technologists have to grapple with these questions and not philosophers because it's out of their reach, but I disagree. Deciding whether hitting a grandparent or child is a better choice is exactly the sort of ethical value problem that philosophy explores, otherwise known as the 'trolley problem'.

Machines are better equipped to decide too. No person would actually be able to decide within a split second which person to hit, they just hit whoever and deal with the aftermath. Machines however can and there's no reason why this can't be programmed in the system.

Interesting point. He's saying that it's basically not possible with current tech, since everything is based on mathematical calculations and narrow parameters, but if they could overcome that hurdle, I agree.

I hope all the East Coast friends are all well. There were 5 confirmed tornadoes in Orange County NY. Lots of power outs & trees down.

After leaving Atlanta for CA, and being near a few , I don't miss tornadoes one bit.

Ugh. I revisit multidirver iems when the price settles to what it should be: 50..200 buck range.

Not the sort of thing I'd get anyway (I just don't enjoy having things in my ears long term) but that price is just ... no.

I'd never buy them personally. I've dealt with Lawrence before & the tour popped up so I thought I'd give it a try. Very good IEM All but unobtainable price.

Interesting article on the old ABX debate from one of my favorite audio writers:

        Jason said:
"both subjectivists and objectivists are wrong on lots of things, at least in my opinion. Both camps have members that get way, way, way too into their dogma, both camps have advocates that really need to chill out and have a beer"

Brent said just about the same thing in so many words...I'm fairly certain there's right & wrong on both sides.

That home theatre link got me searching for DIY A/B switches, which got me to DIYAudio, which got me into a long thread there about how someone doesn't believe in relativity and the speed of light being a constant. Disturbingly, couldn't tell if it was joking or serious.

Gungnir is here. Not even fully warm yet & better than anything I've owned. I'm a very happy camper (and impatiently saving for MB upgrade)

The MB and DS are different sides of the same coin. If you’re really in love with what you have, I’d ask around to borrow a MB version for comparison before pulling the trigger on an upgrade.

I haven't heard the D/S version, but the Gumby is a worthy upgrade...enjoy!

Agree with @Vansen. The MB does change the sound. Try to get a listen to the MB first.

Finally offloaded Hugo. Traded for a Gungnir D/S (Gundis?). Somehow, I think I got the better end of the deal.

Some may know I'm trying to offload my Hugo...anyone know about the Vinshine Audio DAC-R2R Ref ? Possible Headfi Trade

I have a possible Gungnir D/S trade, which is the known quantity, but it might fall through. I think the Vinshine has a Soekris DAC in it? Not much info round the web (I'm not the best at Google Fu)

I'm enjoying MCTH so much, I've barely turned on the iCan pro. Maybe I should sell it & go big tube amp...

I broke my tube cherry with the CTH,-after aprox 50 hours, it's amazing. Now to dump the Hugo and find a good DAC...so many options.

Edit:I'm using mostly an Eikon, LCD2F & Modded Elear (a la Hands)

I do like my Hugo (1) but it's better as a unit, and I don't really need the portability anymore...I am looking at the Bimby/Gumby, and I signed up for the Soekris loaner...looking forward to it (and thanks everyone!)
