Did shipper insure? Had USPS “deliver” a WE 396a from fleaBay the other week, seller wasn’t any help. I was surprised how quickly the local post office called me when I went to file, but it was just “she [the carrier] says she’s sure she delivered it.” Still nothing, bought another one. Could have tried to go through PayPal but with a delivered status unsure how far I could have gotten.

Sad thing is, he did not insure but did go through PayPal G&S. Why you would send a headphone without insurance at that price is beyond me. So if USPS says they'll only pay up to a certain amount I'll settle it through PayPal and have him settle it with USPS.

Property taxes here are insane but so is your increase in home insurance. I hear Florida is getting raked over the coal by the insurance companies. Hopefully it stabilizes for everyone.

I appealed mine last year after the house “value” went up nearly $50K post-storm repairs. Ended up settling for a number I could live with before I had to get lawyers involved. So, yeah, know the value of your area.

Any good GZ34 works well or, does it have to be the meme models like the metal base?

No need for the Mullard metal base $$$ GZ34 unless you want the rectifier to outlast you. Using a TAD GZ34 but before I was using the 5r4gy which is what I had available. The presentation is much more natural and tightens things up.

I keep both GZ34 (mullard f31) and 5r4gy (RCA brown base coke bottle) around since it's an easy way to plump up/batten down the bass to see what's in the amp and what's in the tubes.

If you get a t00b chain you will not get any bang bang but only more cats.

This looks a lot like a 6SN7-UK at a glance. The compatibility list mentioning Singlepower amps but not Lyr3/+ is really funny, too.

@Vansen ya unfortunately some NOS 6SN7 have got pretty expensive. Those black glass KenRad are sought after these days.

also, for folks like me who can't DIY, ZMF is planning on selling fully built Aegis amps. "Likely a spring time release" "The likely list price will be $3499 with significant discount for ZMF owners who have bought direct, but all of this is still up in the air and all that."

Also, I was highly impressed of LordGwynn's Aegis amp. The synergy between it and the Aeolus was fantastic. The holographic sound stage, the transients, the way it handles treble. It's the sound I've been chasing for. Going to buy the parts and build me one.

Quick convo with Jason and me worrying about seeing the LCD-R connected to the Mjolnir 3. I asked Jason if it wouldn't burn it out and he just shrugged while saying, "As long as we don't see smoke and we have back ups". Love his nonchalant attitude.

Tried them out on the Mjolnir 2, EC Studio Jr, MCTH and Glenn OTL. Great tube on the EC Studio Jr but good on the others. Now it’s exceptional.

Interesting, I've liked my Atrium more than both the OG Auteur and Auteur Classic (Padauk), but my wife definitely gravitates towards the Auteur Classic over the Atrium.

It's the mids on the Auteur. The Atrium is more resolving, and has a wider/deeper sound stage but the reverb, the tonality, and the mids captivate me on the Auteur.

I own both and switch fairly regularly. The Atriums seem faster and have more slam while the Auteur has that sweet mid-range that mimics my Omega speakers.

Heck, some of us just want hair in the right places :P

I truly became bald this year and now have healthy sprouts of hair growing out of my ear. Smh..

EH 7205s are very solid state sound ala hi-fi but haven't been burned in. The JJs didn't need burn in and sound much more natural. Better for a brighter system.

On what chain did you listen to it, and how does it compare to the HD650/600? I never heard the 660v1.

I'm switching between my Elekit TU-8600 which is around 100ohm output, the SW 51+ on high output, and the Schiit Fulla. Few things I can compare is the 660s2 is faster, has tighter/textured bass, and is clearer than the 650. I'll be doing a write up hopefully this weekend if time permits. Honestly, with the price range being in Focal Elex, Aeon Flow Open, and Ananda territory, it's going to have a hard time.

Whether it took a few months or half a year. They didn't even say, "Sure, we can do that but it's going to take a while to fully transfer over" it was, "No, we don't think this is what we want right now. We have new managers coming in and we can put a pin in it until they get acclimated then we can make the decision"....

Too bad to hear situations you're facing sound uncontrollable yet risky.. I had to deal with leaving boss and myself moving to a new dept/team. What you said reminds me of the hard days last year. Hope everything around you resolve asap.

When I was a hobby jeweller, silver was about 3 GBP an ounce, now I think it is about 16GBP. A bit more for pure silver.

I love silver. I think it is so beautiful, even though one can make nice things out of copper too. I don't believe electrons share my preferences, so count me dissenting, but hey, it's your cash, guys!

again, the pull of silver is its 200% sensitivity to magnetic flux, not so much its slightly lower resistance. that's why silver transformers >> copper transformers, whereas silver wire >= copper wire

What a good ground can do for audio equipment. The previous location had too much noise in the electrical grid. Now I'm just cracking a smile not having to deal with it in games or compressing video.

Staying in the Dallas area?

North of Dallas. We got a place in The Colony but it's 30 minutes away from my job and about 45 minutes away for my wife. We almost bought a house that was an hour out for me and 1 1/2 hours out for her but luckily won the bid on this one.

I used to commute to uptown Dallas, but went in at 6am to miss traffic. It was actually longer to go to DNT/NW Hwy for me going down 75. Don't miss those days.

Now my commute is from my bedroom upstairs to my office down. I wish everyone could do that.

It still blows though. 15 offers, all mostly 20-25k over the sale price, and still being rejected because buyer are skipping home inspections, or paying the sellers closing cost, or allowing them to live there free for a month or two while they relocate. Bananas! And yes, investors buying any house on the market also doesn't help.

It is going to get worse before it gets better. Housing market is nuts in FL and we have people just walking away and saying forget it. The waiving inspection + overbidding is going to get old quick considering the wages aren't keeping up with the increases.

Been like this for a long time in major Canadian cities.
