I've been curious about isolation transformers, might be a nice diy project.

I was in a home once with MBL 101 speakers. With all the electronics it was easily a +$200k system.

The same room had a large panel TV not connected to those speakers. It had a soundbar. :\

Based on used priced Oneac or Powervar conditioners, diy would be a lot more expensive.

The model has been used for decades. Buy big space at set price, sell small bits at a price, make profit. Nothing complex. CV19 kills the economics when you cannot sell all (earlier multi year contracts at N size) and have too little revenue from tkts. And lots of marketing to make various sizes of this work.

It does take production chops to do a virtual event well. I have seen a few crash and burn hard over the last year.

True, I haven't tried any, but I can't see how one can do such a thing virtually. Not the trade-show side of it anyway. If we want to know about, say, speakers, we can visit the manufacturer sites, visit the review sites, the youtube pundits, the forums, etc etc. It's all done already. A show is about personal experience and contact, hands on: the virtual world is... virtual!

Captchas do serve anti-bot purpose. Or do they? Haven't bots learned how to recognise fire hydrants, traffic signals, bicycles and crossings? Doesn't google know about any other items to throw at them?

What about a neat regular xo to tame it a bit? This or plxo would be my choice, when approacing true high end. Phase response would be a massacre after pistonic response (3..4 kHz) anyway.

@Priidik - Actually I have been thinking about that as well as perhaps adding an ambience tweeter. But then it gets all frankenspeakerish and my head says just get another speaker design. One thing these big FR drivers do is big sound that no 5.25 in two way bookshelf match. At least not the under $700 ones I have tried.

Yes, it happens when you analyze to death a 1 meter nearfield setup, cuz it and your main setup set you off when it comes to whacked sax, cymbals, voices, etc. And you find the culprit frequency that is making lots of marginal recordings sound even crappier.

        Literally!

And I had to get a local fisherman to take it off the hook and throw it back in the harbour for me. Never fished again.
