        Am I detecting some sarcasm?

I just put together a Pi Zero W running piCorePlayer and PI2AES, that's also fanless.

"they have the target market all figured out"

It is a prime tenet of audiophoolery that playing music must be difficult. Such people believe that it takes a lot of computer power to do audio. Which is, of course, bollocks.

You wouldn't eat fries or chips cooked in Valvoline or Castor Oil, why you eatin them cooked in Cottonseed Oil? Want a nice plate of cotton?

Yes $ is the reason, use waste instead of a good oil, like 50+ years ago when they convinced Grandma to use Crisco in her baking. Cottonseed oil that has been hydrogenated. She should have kept using Lard, probably healthier.

About the same time, they switched pig breeds so pork chops stopped being as tasty…but they could advertise it as "lean". That was during the fat-free craze of the mid-late 80s.

So we dropped the fat and loaded everything up on sugar to make up for it. Now we know that sugar is a toxin and fat is crucial in brain development.

Meanwhile corn subsidies have also contributed to the decline in Americans' health, IMO.

The switch to lard to Crisco was because of the horrible health conditions at the meat packing plants in places like Chicago. Crisco was advertised as a clean and healthier alternative. If you want some tasty biscuits, cut them with lard, not vegetable shorting.

For the record I revisited this with the HP-3 and the Liquid Carbon just now (was on Fulla 2>HD600 last time) and LOL yes the bass is all flub and crumple. Kinda surprising how I wasn't much bothered by it on the Senns.

Ah, I guess I didn't know VSTs had to be compiled for different OSes and architectures. I thought they were simpler.

Nonetheless, I have to imagine there is some sort of solution that would give you the EQ you want.

I still think the benefits of a Pi2AES or DigiOne Sig are a worthwhile pursuit. They provide specific improvements you can't get through other means.

@bixby I think a lot of people, especially first-timers, genuinely don't know the basics about how to set up a speaker system. I also think a fair chunk of vinyl lovers are not what we would call "audiophiles", it's just a fun way for them to listen and connect to their music. And heck, some of the recent posts in the SBAF 'Pictures of your speaker system' thread make you scratch your head too.
