Market here is bananas. Open house lasts two days and then it’s sold. Bidding wars were just the icing on the cake. Had to man up and put in a bigger offer but finally snagged one. I hear that it’ll stabilize after October but we couldn’t wait that long.
Congrats! Truth be told, I was more blessed than I was prudent. There was this one house. Before I even put in solid offer above the asking price, I was outbid beyond my highest potential bid. As it turned out, there's no way I could've anticipated some of my expenses last year. So God was looking out for me when I *didn't* get that house.
I’m there with you. We had been saving up since the beginning of last year. Sold stocks and even then this almost has me tapped out. I do feel lucky we waited this long. The house is in a prime spot from Dallas or Frisco which are two prime spots for work and are both 30 minutes away. Other houses we were looking at where an hour away. If I wanted Houston traffic I’d be in Houston traffic. :)
North of Dallas. We got a place in The Colony but it's 30 minutes away from my job and about 45 minutes away for my wife. We almost bought a house that was an hour out for me and 1 1/2 hours out for her but luckily won the bid on this one.
I used to commute to uptown Dallas, but went in at 6am to miss traffic. It was actually longer to go to DNT/NW Hwy for me going down 75. Don't miss those days.
Now my commute is from my bedroom upstairs to my office down. I wish everyone could do that.
