@SoupRKnowva I think AMD works, too, at least there are settings for it. (Never actually tried or read anything about that.) I guess the problem is that you need a library like CUDA if you don’t want to write assembler code for GPUs. Not sure if something like that exists for Mac?

as far as ive heard its CUDA only and the website only lists CUDA, so if it supports AMD now that would be neat

At least in HQPlayer Embedded, there’s a setting in hqplayerd.xml where you can set rocm="1" in the engine tag just like you can for cuda. Not sure if this still works with current AMD GPUs or only works on Linux with the Embedded version or there’s no official support or whatever else may be the reason for not officially publishing that, but at least there’s something there.

The v1 GR is a pretty much my endgame table — somebody will be running them out on clearance this holiday season.

For classical, several firms have switched to cardboard to cut the cost of international shipping. I found that out from someone I trust in the industry. It's more important to me that the music be available in more countries at better prices. In this case, the company switched to cardboard to cut costs for European collectors. I had rather than my fellow classical snobs in Europe be able to afford great music.

I don't know about stronger ones in the 90s? I don't remember strong CD cases ever! They have always made me think fondly of the vinyl LP experience.

If stepping down from double conversion, the line interactive version from APC, Vertiv, or Eaton should work well.

My audio equipment also plays nicely on the Vertiv PSI5 line and the APC SMTL750RM2UC. PSI5 line up and that APC are silent.

Eaton 9PX 700 looks good for home. For home, I’d take double conversion over lithium if I had to choose and factor in two battery changes over the life for total cost estimates. In my deployments at scale, I didn’t need double conversion, but I sure wanted the original battery to last the entire life of the product.
