I can help here. Go with double conversion if you can afford it. Go with lithium iron phosphate if you can afford it - SLA is 2-5 years, LiFePo4 is 9-11 years. Stick with Vertiv or APC - but Eaton should be okay, too. Stay away from Tripp-lite on the UPS side and stay away from CyberPower for anything.
Every Tripp-Lite UPS I have tested (about ten) have died in less than 18 months. I have deployed about 10,000 Vertiv and APC UPSes and they have a very reliable record.
Thanks for the suggestions. Stepping up to double-online gets pricey quick and then lithium another step. Best value I see is CDW has an Eaton 9PX Online UPS 700VA 630W 120V 2U for $825. Not lithium.
We use mostly Eaton and some APC at work. I have a bunch of inexpensive basic APC at home. Both are reputable names and will be as reliable as it gets for what it is. Agree to stay away from Tripplite and CyberPower.
The Noctua swap on my GXT5 went well. Good temps still and normally silent. It’ll kick up to about 41db-43db from 1m at times, but not sure about my measurements there. It’s quiet, but if you have a dead silent room, you could hear it a little when the fan kicks up. It’d be silent if I limited the Noctua more, but it’ll go up to 100%.
Eaton 9PX 700 looks good for home. For home, I’d take double conversion over lithium if I had to choose and factor in two battery changes over the life for total cost estimates. In my deployments at scale, I didn’t need double conversion, but I sure wanted the original battery to last the entire life of the product.
