I would recommend signing up for Guitar Tricks and going through the two beginner courses solo before paying a teacher for one on ones. They have the best intro to guitar courses for self paced learning IMO.

It really is a great place. I miss going. Worth checking out the bars on Frenchman St., just beyond the Quarter, for other live music.

I've not been in 15+ years but Snug Harbor might work; it's a restaurant and jazz venue. I'm not sure if it's kid friendly, though. Edit: looking at google reviews, it might have gone downhill since I last went.

@tommytakis I appreciate to fuck that I look like a normal person with these on. I can walk around downtown Boulder with these on and I don't get those "WTF" looks. I think the Mini S/C (esp if the C shares commonalities of sound) are the "true" flagships. I can recommend them to anyone who is getting into audio and has the cash.

Mini C is not quite voiced the same, but S is quite enjoyable.

This is why I slapped a Fiio UTWS5 on them. (but they stop looking normal then)

@rhythmdevils I've had a couple of first watt amps in the past. The Aegir mono is quite synergistic with the RAAL. Also I use speakers and the Tyr runs class A for the first 5 watts.

Most seriously, I want to see how the Tyr does with my moth cicada drivers + oris horns.
