The ZX300 can function as a USB DAC and broadcast LDAC. One of the iFi devices must do this, but I searched for a while and couldn't be sure cuz their marketing copy sucks ass.
LMAO, I offhandedly recommended the Zen Blue because I'm an iFi fanboy and trust them to make good gear but he pointed out that their specs sheet says the Blue only has LDAC *input*.
Confusing indeed.
He's probably got more cash than I do but isn't neck deep in audiophilia last I checked, so he may not be willing to shell out that much on the ZX. Will pitch it as a long-term investment though.
Yup, so I've heard, but he's just looking for something to plug into a laptop and I figured that the added stress of dealing with batteries might ultimately detract from his use case. I'll probably pitch the ZX or something more affordable if nothing else comes up, but yeah I'm mostly amazed that this doesn't seem to be a populated niche in the audio space with how big wireless is getting.
Suggested the a50. He decided to stick with his phone since it supports LDAC anyway (Samsung Note 9) but will be picking up an HD599 and one of @iFi audio's Zen DACs as a transportable rig.
