I was really curious about this amp as well and reached out to the 3 most knowledgable, experienced amp builders I know and they all said it looked like a really special amp and that the build quality was outstanding and that the parts alone were worth 1,5k so it was really a steal especially with that paint job, etc. I would have bought it myself but it looks like the impedance of my sensitive ortho iems and Audeze's are not a good match and would push the tubes too far, and it was designed for the HD650/600.

I'm just posting this because I. really think someone here on SBAF should get this amp and keep it in the family, I think it may be something pretty special and a great deal. Rest assured, he's a great guy who I've bought from before and he knows his shit WRT building amps, this is no amateur build. I'm sure he'd take care of you down the line too if anything happened.

This is slightly out of the ordinary but this guy in Canada is selling a pair of LCD-4 with a dead driver for US $1000: https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/audeze-lcd4-read-description.58984/

He's been quoted $1200 by Audeze for a replacement matched pair of drivers. With shipping, this would be getting closer to $2300-2400, all told, I suppose, which is about where the used market is for LCD-4s now. (I've seen someone else post on head-fi about the cost of replacement drivers being $1200 but I can't confirm it myself).

What makes this listing worth posting here is the warranty you'd get for the new drivers, which would supposedly be good until late 2027.

Edit: I'd check with Audeze about replacing the drivers before buying. Caveat emptor, etc.

That same one has been up for quite sometime and the listing expired, so he now listed it again.

The original Therom had PCM67's with a YM3623B input and DF1700P filter with discrete I/V and discrete buffer. The Therom II has a better built power supply section and uses PCM69's.

He is also asking $199 for the matching Axiom transport that has Phillips CMD-12.

The matching transport also has a proprietary connection that reduces jitter with that DAC, so I've read.

I didn't get the SFD2 mk3. :( he sold it to someone else apparently. He's either a poo poo head and just didn't respond to me, or he got a lot of emails about it. I even sent him 2 emails, the second one affirming my interest and readiness to send a bank transfer and how long I've been in the community, etc.

it's probably going to some collector who won't even listen to it, I hate that part of this hobby it should be about music. I'm bummed not to hear it, but it's better for the wallet I guess. This just really seemed like I would love it. I had a spidey sense.

    Oh well. :(
