Sold it a couple years ago. Might be fine for bass duties but to my ears not transparent enough on mids and highs. Sounds digital or jittery.

Which DAC did you feed it to?
    TOSLINK or AES out?

Quality of source clock potentially matters because it's also used for the output (I think).

Did you try it with 'bypass all' enabled (red light on) and did that sound any better?

I was using a V800 dac back then and it was AES. Can't remember if i tried bypass, i think compared between physical bypass and eq. Amp was modded BH Crack and HD800 with rugliner.

You need to feed it with a digital source. If you use the analog input or internal DAC, then all bets are off. But with DEQ2496 in between a CD transport (or optical from FireTV) and Yggdrasil 2, I could not tell a difference. The DEQ was so good that I could tell the which one of my transports I was using or which connectors (SPDIF, AES, etc.)

I'm using a cheap Pioneer player via TOSLINK. It makes no sense that different transports would have a "sound" with an optical link and reclocking DAC...

PS: glad you are on the mend now!
