    I worked on a DECsystem10 (TOPS10 OS) in high school, and the other room had a PDP7. Awesome to remember those.

    The DEC10 took an entire environment-controlled room. Disk drives were about 4x4x4 ft. 256K of memory was 8 full racks (3x4?x6 ft) each.

    Prof always has students write code and get a loop working on at least one of the machines at the museum. He said this was the first time anyone had gotten any working on a machine this old :D

    In the video, that's just the terminal, the machine is off to the left and was huge. It was sweet, cause when we hit run, lights would flash and you could hear clanking inside

    Yeah, to boot the DEC10 you had to feed punched paper-tape through a reader. And plenty of lights and switches.

    The VAX 8087 used a DEC-made IBM PC clone to hold the boot code, and essentially network-boot the VAX.
