I think you've maybe said this in a thread somewhere, but where do they fall down the most? I suspect the midrange. That BMR tech seems cool at first but I suspect it's not as good in real world performance as a tried and true 4" cone design.
- Mids are where the music lives, but those BMR drivers are underwhelming, especially side-by-side with a RAAL tweeter.
- Very low efficiency + complex crossovers aren't my favorite combo.
- What quality of bass down to 20-25hz can you possibly expect from 8" woofers?
One of the most important design goals of a driver is to make it as light as possible. BMR drivers have weights added to them to work properly. I'm not a fan.
I understand that Dennis prioritizes dispersion, so I get his love of BMRs, but at what cost?
