I've had a similar issue before with SPDIF out from consoles into audiophile DACs. You might just need to make sure everything is set to stereo and PCM. If it's surround or Bitstream, the DAC doesn't know what to do with the signal.

It is set to stereo and PCM. This is a well known issue with the PS5. That's why, for example, the audeze maxwell has two versions: the ps5 one had to be tuned specifically for the ps5 and you have to use it wireless (because the USB input gets the decreased volume issue that can't be worked around.)

Ah, noted. I'm still rockin' the PS4, so that's a new one for me!

I asked Audeze with link to comment but received no reply. However I found some relevant info in Audeze’s FAQ section that would indicate padrolling is do at your own risk and NOT covered under warranty.

Why they do say it's not covered officially, I've known people who got their drivers replaced for no cost. Just don't rely on that. It's like LG with the C-series OLEDs - they dont' cover burn-in officially, but sometimes they grant mercy.

Padrolling for taste and fit is such a common adjustment for hifi headphones. Maybe Audeze will eventually sell pad adapters with venting like Abyss but hopefully not for $400-500 or whatever Abyss charges.

If I buy another Audeze Ill create and print vented pad adapters for free but of course itll be use at your own risk.

OT: In the same email I asked Audeze about the rumored $400 MM-100, still no response.

Did Audeze update the LCD-X again for 2023? walked into a store, heard their LCD-X and found it to be neutral with good quality upper mid and bass. Bought the model that was on my head - didn't want to play the driver lotto. The pads feel super soft unlike my LCD3 pads that I bought from Audeze last year.

I prefer to think of it as continuous improvement. The current LCD-X are more consistent, a bit faster, and more tonally even than when the first came out. The very first batch, I recall some units which were just horrid sounding, tonally lean and scratchy in the highs. There was a meet where Craig at Eddie CUrrent joking said "get that headphone outta here". Yes, this is how bad it sounded. Review of this specific unit is here: https://www.changstar.com/www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,1200.msg32109.html#msg32109

Right after, came a more consistent batch, where they merely suffered a bit from the Audeze "veil" that may complained about the LCD-3, except with the LCD-X being less expensive, no one really cared. Since then, many years later, I think Audeze has gotten their stuff together. 2021 seemed to be a turning point where stuff I've heard from them has been consistent and good sounding.

I replaced the drivers on my LCD-3 late last year, along with a fresh set of new Audeze pads. Not the best version of LCD3 I have heard/owned over the years. I thought that was what LCD-X 2021 sounded like. I have put away my LCD3 but I will take them out again to compare with the LCD-X I just bought. My philosophy when it comes to Audeze is this - if you hear one you like in person you buy that one right then and there.
