Open cell foam and rug liner in front of the stock felt. Just tucked behind the pads.

Interesting, I assume that's for taming the sibliance of the 990. I use EQ on my 880s right now but I wonder how effective this mod would be.

Going back on topic I can vouch for the 880 being very EQable with their smooth response and hiccups only occuring around 7-9KHz generally. If anyone wants my (questionable) EQ on EqualizerAPO + PEACE I'd be glad to post it.

Assuming you're working with an EQ that operates in the digital domain, whose algorithm compensates for phase anomalies, etc, the only thing the EQ will truly change is the tonal balance of the headphone. Ever play with tone controls? Set them as per one's preference, listen for a week or two, and set them back to flat. At first the sound seems dull, but after a few minutes, as one's brain gets used to the change, it begins to sound essentially identical. Same with an EQ.

The main difference between, say, M50 and HD600 (in a word) is resolution. An EQ cannot fix this. Good luck.

It originated from a stack of newly arrived CDs, as I was registering on another forum. Denese Shaffer's record was added as a freebie, and I kinda liked the name.
