The cable was recently sent back to Cardas for repair of an intermittent left channel issue. I received it back and everything is working fine. If there are any future problems, the cable has lifetime warranty and you can send it in for a free repair.

$150 includes shipping within CONUS but not paypal fees. Add 3.5% for paypal fees.

Ah darn, I'm not going anywhere near those HD800 connectors and recently placed an order for a Draug.

    Heck of a deal

Yeah the HD800 connectors are a real shit show. At least Cardas' service was very quick and free! I'm considering hardwiring my Draug v2 onto the HD800 but I just don't like how the Y splitter isn't further down.

I'll second the great customer service from Cardas. Repairs have always been free and turn around time has been great. In my mind, this no-BS customer service makes picking up a second hand pair a no-brainer.

I read your comments about that, hoping it doesn't bother me as I prefer a shorter Y

Is it possible to hardwire it with conventional soldering tools? I was under the impression that since it's Litz you need special heat guns and solder pots...etc.

I'm not sure, maybe @Maxx134 could comment on that?

I have soldered wire under another name using cardas which was litz.

I also hardwired the Draug 2 and yes the Y part was close but still Ok.

You don't have to worry about a those braided strands because they are already joined to a solder point....

Just have to be careful and patience with a steady hand lol

Also, from my experience, my best non-silver cable was the Cardas cable.

Unless I'm mis-remembering, you might be able to cut the strip of heat shrinking that forms the "Y" split, cut the gray outer layer of the cable down to the desired length, and re-wrap the split. The only thing is that I'm not sure if you'd be able to slip a new piece of heat shrink tubing over the HD800 connectors or XLR unless it's a highish diameter (probably at least 10mm for the HD800 connector side). If you're direct wiring, than fitting the heat shrink over wouldn't be much of an issue and it should give you some extra length to work with.

Since it's litz I think you just need to make sure you burn off the ceramic coating on the wires using a hot soldering iron and pre-tin the leads before you direct wire them to the drivers.
