    ^this.

It would help if you mentioned what steps you've taken to try and address stuff, how your system is laid out. Did you read the instructions on how to deploy the device, Rufusen? People here're happy to help out, just need more details than "IT DOESN'T WORK"

FYI - on the 5 the I2S interface moved from the cpu to a new south bridge chip. This means we need to wait until the audio software vendors (moode, volumio, etc) have updated their drivers. Note that they will work with the pi 5 usb output, but of course, that offers much lower performance. Finally there is no audio benefit, and possibly some downsides, to using the pi 5 versus the 3 or 4.

@Michael Kelly I had the 5v mod done to my og Pi2AES and have it hooked up to a Sigma11 LPS.

You’ve said the Pi2AES 2 makes it easier to use an LPS.

I’m just curious if my Pi2AES with the 5v mod now performs the same as a Pi2AES 2.

    thank you! :)

I'm just stopping by to say that I've had the original pi2aes v1 in my humble system for over 3 years and it's still my favorite piece of audio equipment. I use it daily; man it just works...

I was using it with an i2s DAC before, and now I'm using it directly into a minidsp box.

pretty much, but still missing the over voltage protection.

    Hello friends!
I am new here. I would like some help. I use a Pi2AES with Raspberry Pi4 and Moode. I have a 7.9 inch HDMI screen that I cannot use in this configuration. Don't care. Does anyone know how to make it work? Do I need to do any additional configuration? The manufacturer doesn't know how to explain it.
Note: the screen works normally without Pi2AES, with raspberry OS.
If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.
    Andre

Are you running the same OS when you compare these two events? I suspect it has more to do with which OS you are running than the PI2AES itself.

try running moode without the hat, or running the Raspberry OS with the hat, and see what the results are. Report back and i will try to help you sort it out.

Moode is web based and the OS does not have the necessary software for a GUI, or the drivers for your touchscreen, while Rpi OS certainly has the former and likely the latter as well.

This howto is rather old, but the basic idea will likely still apply to your setup.

Hello Michael. Thank you for your help. I also believe it has nothing to do with Pi2AES, as I used it with a DSI screen without any problems. Only occurs with the HDMI screen. I'll do some more testing with the systems and let you know.

Hello! Thanks for the tutorial. I'll try to run it. In my research I only found Volumio, I believe it will work.

if you enable the touchscreen option for MOODE it will also reflect the screen onto the HDMI port. Not sure if there's a way to get touch as well, but you at least have the video coming out. You will have to mess around with the settings of the display, as shown the waveshare wiki. MOODE will not automatically set the right resolution and rate for that display.

    Hello everybody!
I want to especially thank @Michael Kelly @Kernel Kurtz for their help. I did all the possible qualifications on Moode, without success. I tried the installations suggested in the tutorial, but due to my limited technical knowledge they didn't work. I decided to stay with my DSI screen, temporarily postponing the project of a cabinet with a 7.9-inch HDMI screen. Thank you all!
    All the best!

Sorry that did not help. I've been thinking about this for a while now. I have 2 Rpis in my bedroom, one with a Pi2AES running Volumio, and one with standard Rpi OS that I use to stream video just using VLC from the GUI over HDMI to the TV. I would like to consolidate them into one device to do both audio and video. I'm not sure if it will be straightforward, but the nice thing about Rpis is you can just swap SD cards to try new things.

From my reading, it looks like Rpi OS does include the Hifiberry Digi Pro drivers needed by the Pi2AES and may just need some tweaking to get it to work. https://www.hifiberry.com/docs/software/configuring-linux-3-18-x/ Using the Rpi graphical OS would allow me to install VLC, and use a regular Linux audio player like Deadbeef for music, and continue to control it via tablet over xrdp (what I use for the video player), or VNC. It may not be as highly optimized for audio as Volumio or Moode, but I'd like to try it anyway.

@Michael Kelly have you used the Pi2AES with the standard Rpi OS, and if so do you have any thoughts or comments?

I'll be sure to post back here when I try this out. Have quite a few other things on my plate right now so might be a while yet.

    Cheers.

We have not tested with the regular os's only the dedicated audio players.

Yes, it helped me @Kernel Kurtz. I was the one who couldn't implement it. I need to improve my knowledge. Thank you again for your willingness and help.

Just curious. Has anyone tried RPi 5 with either Pi2AES or Pi2AES 2.0? I have read that, except for PoE, all HATs should work because the GPIO system is carry over. That said, they can't test all HATs and our little world is a tiny corner of the RPi universe.

    Thanks in advance.
