Can confirm the Bendix are very good with SB. Best I’ve heard out of the driver tubes (WE 396a and stock) by a good margin (most transparent, cleanest, slight edge on dynamics and detail), and I’m not even using the JAN variant like @Souldriver, which is supposed to be even better!

    Dooo itt…

This is the most gripping for sale thread of all time, but perhaps for Josh's sake we should resolve this. Josh was kind to me with a recent sale but this is truly too much amp for my set up.

My wallet is willing, but I didn't want to give up anymore of my desk space. Plus, I've been eyeing to purchase another guitar lately. Still, I'm kind of kicking myself for not jumping on the deal when the tubes were still around. I still have around 6-8 WE 396A's here ready to go too. :\

Best headphone-audio deal on the interwebs right now. Would buy if I had the money - even tho I (am drunk right now AND - ) already own a Studio Junior 2A3. Am just sad he is selling something special like this, but I can understand it at least.

And have to ad - this amp is a wonderful preamp companion to an XA25. Beautiful synergy.

Damn, I just bought and sold a Studio B and I'm tempted to try this to see what the modded version sounds like. Maybe those mercury tubes make its work with orthos and get rid of the dry tonality it has IMO stock. hmmmmmm ahhhhhhh

I think the interstage cap change to the Duelund copper/silver makes the bigger difference. I ended up performing the interstage cap mod (though I used silver caps rather than the copper/silver hybrid) and the 83 mercury mod to my Aficionado, and the caps made a significant difference, giving the amp more weight and fullness compared to the Jupiter caps I had in it before. I honestly didn’t notice much of a difference with the 83 mercury mod, but I also haven’t done any tube rolling to see if that makes a difference (I found a Fivre 83 NOS tube for a good price and don’t really feel like trying other tubes right now).

If the studio B responds to the mods in the same way as the Aficionado, then this studio B should sound noticeably less dry, though I couldn’t say if it would be enough of a change for your needs.

I've worked out a deal with @Josh Schor to borrow his Studio B so I can hear it and pay shipping of course, so shipping will be free to the next buyer! Unless that person is me :)

I wouldn’t call what I’m chasing a unicorn. In a different world it would be rather pedestrian. But not really anyone has made what I’m looking for so I’m hoping to find a happy accident.

Eyes and ears will be peeled to hear your thoughts on the mods. I think the weakest link is the stock volume pot, caps are icing on the cake. I had the same feeling as you on the B but i was able to throw warmer dacs at it to fix it. (Mojo Mystique and Lampizators)

The Kozmo 50kohm shunt pot thats in the Studio B brought out clarity, purity removing any grey hazyness. Its weird because the sound with my speakers started at 1 oclock, for my Utopias sound started at 9 oclock. I thought there was something wrong but both Arek at Kozmo and Marv said that the starting point is different not the sound or power( I think thats what was said) Im not a tech guy. Anyway I went from the stock to the TKD to the Kozmo and the Kozmo was the cleanest, more space around instruments with great tone.

I think stock pot is also 100k and your Kozmo is 50k. That can affect it as well. I am looking to shoot for the TKD but would love a stepped attenuator where there is a full bypass wired in.
