    Some purists may not like to run EQ either because it uses it's own sort of digital filter (may reduce goodness of the Schiit filter, for example).

    Plus, not all sources and setups have the option to use EQ, or at least what's available is highly variable.

    Not that EQ can't make things sound good, but mods will more or less make sure you get a consistent sound no matter where you use the headphone. That, and EQ can't reduce some enclosure problems on the HD800.

    You can try it before you buy it. Free trial. If you haven't had the pleasure of hearing the plug in with the hd800, do yourself the favor and give it a try. Nothing to loose really.

    Like @Hands i also had my issue swith EQ but sonarworks really changed my mind. I am still not a fan but they made the 800 into an exception.
