I mean Sd-wise it's a 4.25" equivalent. Of course, it'll run out of steam down low.

Oh, you underestimate the "every man" aspect.

In general, you are completely correct.

But - there are tracks mixed with bass sine notes hitting -3 even -2 dbfs (for example recordings I use as test tracks - angel from mezzanine and that bizzare 16hz organ music track - I know cause I checked). And that all goes to the woofer. It can easily push 50W into it.
Even without the current, voltage swing generally dictates excursion at these low tones.

I'd wager this is the reason they break - people try forcing the speaker to see how low and how loud it can go until it... goes :D

Well linear xmax is 3mm, usually total is around twice that so 6. Blast some 20 Hz sinewaves into it and It'll probably pop. Why would anyone do this? Well... :D

Yes, people maybe forget - it looks big on the outside but it can't perform down under

I expected a joke on my expense :D

    I've pretty much decided I need a bigger D.
    For the rocking.
    For excursion.
    For power.

    Down under.
    It will be a 3way.
