I know many of you are aware of the DSP phono stage by Parks Audio called the Puffin. The Puffin has been recently discontinued to be able to streamline production and has been replaced with a new model called the Waxwing.

The Waxwing does away with the hardware buttons and screen and instead uses an Android or iOS app that Shannon has developed over the past 2 years. He is making the API public, so others can make 3rd party apps/interfaces. This ensures its ability to keep the GUI going should Parks Audio cease to exist.

My understanding is once make the settings in the app, it saves it to the device and assuming you don’t need to make changes, you don’t need to use the app again. However the app will make it simple and easy to make adjustments at your listing position. There is also a new PEQ functionality.

Looks fun! I may have to play with one of these down the road. Pricing looks to be $500 and the first batch of 20 (production beta 20) are available at the end of the month.

Just received mine and plan to connect it to my Buchardt/Platin hub via toslink. Should make for an interesting setup with my A500's.

Has anyone actually own one and tried it? It looks very interesting and wondering how it sounds comparing with Puffin which I used to have one and found quite good. Thank you.
