Brace yourselves....I'm back with more stupid noob questions. :D I recently bought a Leckerton uha-6s mkii (which I should receive soon). I've done some reading up on it and the consensus seems to be that the amp section is very good, but the DAC section is pretty average. So I've been thinking about getting a Modi 2U and using the Leckerton as an amp only.

The thing is, the Leckerton has TOSLINK, coaxial and optical inputs but the Modi only seems to have RCA outputs. So how do I connect them to each other? I assume that there must be some kind of adapter that allows me to do this, but I have no idea what to look for...

    Thanks for your help. :)

the Magni 2's not a DAC man. That's the Modi 2.

Oh FFS! *facepalm!* I meant the Modi, not the Magni - I always get confused between them. I guess that my stupid question looks even more stupid than I anticipated! :D

you connect the RCA to the line in in front of the leckerton where it says input
you need an rca to 3.5mm stereo cable

Before you go spending more money, at least give the leckerton a listen. Opinions are like assholes. Take most with a grain of salt. If your not happy with the Dac in the unit when it arrives, then cross that bridge.

You're probably right, but I do suffer from a bit of impatience (plus I can get my hands on a Modi at a ridiculously good price right now! :D ). After getting some bad advice, I generally tend to avoid taking opinions on Head Fi too seriously - there are clearly some very knowledgeable people there, but there's also a lot of hype and plenty of uninformed opinions flying around. But sometimes a pattern emerges - most people seem to think that the Leckerton isn't at its best when used via the USB connection, and a lot of people (including purrin, who seems to know his Schiit!) say that its DAC isn't as good as its amp section.

So I thought I'd pick up the Modi that's being sold at a throwaway price, and give it a try with the Leckerton as an amp. If I prefer the Leckerton by itself, then I can always sell the Modi on for what I paid for it. The way I justify it to myself is that I'm still at an early stage in my audio journey, so it's worth trying as much gear as possible to see what suits me, as long as it doesn't break the bank! :D

Thanks again dllmsch. :) I'll buy it from Amazon, so if it doesn't fit I can return it and get a different one. Are there any brands of cable to avoid? (I'm not planning to get a fancy one - I think that it's much too early in my audio journey to even be considering expensive cables, but I would like one that works as intended and that is fairly durable).
