#2 far and away. It keeps it classy, maintains some refined humor on the topic of "banned assholes," and (importantly) rewards curiosity.

FWIW, I'm on another motorcycle forum and the area where shit gets dumped is called "Head Explody". The nature of that forum area is that if a thread is in there it can be read, but not posted to. Except for mods, of course.

I like "How to Win Friends and Influence People" too.

I agree completely, especially about rewarding curiosity.

Nature of the Internet. Once every six months. Would be fun to go back on Changstar, and categorize the various types or combination of types:
    1. Holder of Golden Knowledge. Self-appointed holder of golden knowledge who hasn't realized no one gives a crap about what he has to say. He often likes to call people names (probably because he was called names by his dad or peers when he was young). Inflated sense of ego and self-importance, but this is really a cover for his intense deep feelings of internal poverty. Usually the last line before he leaves or is banned is that he had much knowledge to offer, yet no one was intelligent enough to appreciate it. In every case, does not understand V=IR.
    2. Troll / Porker. The skilled troll manages to stay on for an extended period of time before being banned. The skilled troll is able to keep under the radar by following forum "rules" to the letter, but breaking the rules in spirit, and by engaging in low-level constant trolling, often with the use of smileys or double-meanings to provide the convenient excuse of "Oh I was taken the wrong way." When poked back by someone more skilled at forums, the troll often resorts to crying. They can dish it but they can never take it.
    3. Truth Seeker / Zealot. Self-Pronounced objectivist or truth-seeker who cites science but never performs any scientific experiments himself and elevates personal hypotheses and biases to be the ONE TRUTH without experimentation. Often has shitty gear, no money, refuses to go to meets, and hates people who have been more fortunate in life. Frequency response, distortion of a 1kHz sine wave (without specification of load or voltage), and noise floor are sufficient determiners of gear quality. Gear with a roll-off of 0.5db at 20kHz is instantly pronounced to be defective, despite that they probably wouldn't be able to hear it. Usually loves NWAVGUY, but hates Schiit.
One common theme: These people will never apologize for their ways or take a pragmatic approach to realize it's not a matter of right or wrong in dealing with disputes as they will always insist they are right to further extend the drama rather than end it. In other words, they thrive on drama and continued arguing.

In light of recent events, I would like to nominate the above post as a candidate for "Post of the Year"

I think we should have a dedicated thread where we keep track of all nominations. Best Thread, Best Post (funny), Best Post (insightful), Best Drama/Meltdown, etc.. We could even have our own panel of highly biased moderators that would give out awards based on how they suit our agenda. Just like Hollywood.

    I like that idea, @OJneg . Also @purrin, LOL - please continue.

It'd be funny if it could be made into a Myers-Briggs type audio personality test - results of which might look like: 17% orthodox objectivist, 24% cheap bastard, etc...

I took a look at his group on FB, as some of you may have done already. They are quite eager for people to join so I was approved within 2 minutes. I poked around and there was (of course) some ranting about this situation, aka 'Marv character assassination' among other questionable content specifically from Felix. Fortunately, FB doesn't tolerate abuse/harassment and has tools to report groups for such cases...something I encourage we utilize. You don't need to be part of the group to report it. Just wanted to make it known there is something more that can be done to make sure this situation is handled appropriately and as completely as possible. It's apparently not hard to get accepted and see any posts for yourself if you want evidence.

It's not a big deal. Felix can write anything negative he wants about me on FB. He's just making his own life worse. As I've said, it's just weird since he appears to be a family man deeply involved in his religious community, not some perennially unemployed single dude past his prime who lives with his mom (where raging on the Internet would be more understandable).

I vote we all just move on from this little debacle and continue on enjoying and discussing music and gear!

Agreed. I'm sitting on two headphones and have some speaker measurements to share.

All this stuff is a huge distraction, but it is actually a welcome one for me right now. Been too busy lately and having a hard time concentrating because of recent events in my life. Just been sitting down on the couch listening to music the past week. Besides, we are no dummies. We know drama attracts new people to the site (I can only assume there were 400 people on last night because of this debacle), and a decent percentage of new people become good contributors.

Content doesn't draw so many people to the site, at least not at once. Good content keeps people coming back. Drama draws a lot of new people in. For now, I am simply enjoying entertaining / pontificating / storytelling.

You can tell from the way he's sitting where most of his body is hidden by a table, making it very difficult to judge height.

Parallax and wide angle. Regardless of size, one's tune starts to change when one realizes that I could drop by in Rochester, NY and say hello to a rabbi.

A Rabbi meeting the Messiah - Not sure how that would go down. To quote Brian, "Always look on the bright side of life".
