[Sold] Glenn OTL - Super Tweaked

I'm selling my super tweaked version of the Glenn OTL headphone amplifier, new and unused. Includes pre amp functionality. The designer and craftsman responsible for this amp has said that it will be the best OTL he has ever made.



Glenn says that he has almost finished building it. Save yourself an eighteen month wait. I've spent approximately $2,000 USD on parts (including tubes), $1,000 USD on labour and $500 USD on shipping. Asking $3,000 USD. This includes a full complement of tubes and international shipping to the value of $500. I will only accept payment via PayPal gift.

Once the sale is made I will have no further involvement, will not resolve any disputes between the buyer and manufacturer and won't be responsible for any refunds (not that I'm expecting there to be any problems). All future interaction concerning this amp will be between the new owner and Glenn Rechnitzer.

Friends strongly preferred. I won't be offering this for sale anywhere else.

At present, the amplifier is located in North Carolina.

 

I've had a request for the specifications of the amplifier. Thought I'd post them here rather than replicate the same info in multiple PMs.

Power Supply:
Quasi dual mono
Lundahl mains transformer
Full wave rectification bridge formed from 4 x HEXFRED diodes
First inductor - Lundahl
Final filter capacitors - 2 x Clarity Cap TC600 metalised film capacitors @ 440uF

Headphone Amp Topology:
Single ended two stage OTL
First stage voltage amplification (2 x C3g for ~ 30 gain or 1 x 6SN7 for ~ 20 gain)
Second stage is SRPP (one triode of each tube is an amplifier and the second triode is a constant current source for the other triode)
There are 6 x output sockets for the second stage, which can use the following tube combinations:
6 x 6BL7/6BX7 or
4 x 6AS7G or equivalent or
2 x 6336/6528
I have requested a switch to change the bias of the output tubes optimised for 4 x 7236 (included), in order to lower the output impedance
Interstage capacitors are 2 x Jupiter copper/wax/paper @ 0.47 uF

Preamplifier:
3 x pairs RCA input selected by Goldpoint swtich
2 x pairs RCA output
12AU7/E80CC configured as a cathode follower

Odds & Ends:
Output capacitors - 2 x Clarity Cap TC600 metalised film capacitors @ 440 uF
48 step Khozmo shunt attenuator with Charcroft naked Z-foil load resistors
Enclosure is HiFi2000 (sold by Modushop) 3U slimline case with 10mm aluminium front panel in black
4-pin XLR & 1/4 inch TRS headphone outputs

Tubes included:
6 x Sylvania 6BL7GT flat plates
4 x Tung Sol 7236
6 x Siemens C3g (white box)
2 x National Union round plate 6F8G
1 x Tung Sol black glass round plate 6SN7
1 x Siemens silver/chrome plate ECC82

Sneaking in before the lock to say that I'm glad that you're still ending up with a nice amp, Moats. Your ears deserve it.

 

Was telling Nate, that's at least half the reason I went through with it! After his crazy anticipation, he deserved to end up with a Glenn amp and what I passed to him is truly the best value amp I know of.
