Probably 400 or less, preferably less. :drunk:

I have a hunch that the UE 4 Pro may be an upgrade to those TWFK OEM earphones (Fischer DBA-02, Rockit R-50, Brainwavz B2, etc).

I think the Shure series of IEM's are great, especially the SE series. I would check those out. Others may have some good suggestions for your price range as well.

I agree. It's tough to find a good upgrade to a good 2xBA. Maybe the Noble Savant?

Thought about that. And also thought about saving some moolah by buying in the Japanese pre owned market.

However the amount of people dumping off Savant for sale in e-earphones.jp(where I check in regularly) is a worrying trend.

    Still looking around :sail:

Have you thought about the ASG1+ ? Looks interesting...

For me, Noble 4 is a good universal alternative for UERM. Slightly warmer, slightly shitter, but still recommended. There seem to be a lot of "1-2 week old" ones that come up on the classifieds at HF. I think the low end can be a bit too veracious for some people...

I can't quite pin it down, but there is something wonky and fatiguing about Savant. They are certainly impressive on first listen however when I borrowed a demo pair for a week I found that I had to take a break every half an hour or so...

I'm looking at ways of connecting a Liquid Carbon to my current Bifrost Multibit/Valhalla stack.

I already have one of these; http://www.radialeng.com/jdistereo.php

Would using this to 'split' the output of the Bifrost Multibit to the SE input of the Valhalla and BAL input of the LC be to the detriment of either amp?

Since when did the Bifrost Multibit have a balanced output?

If I were you, I'd just unplug the RCA cord and switch em when I wanted to listen to the other amp.

The JDI Stereo converts SE input to BAL output via Jensen transformers with an SE loop output.

After Lachan's positive review of the X3ii - especially via line out - I gave it a try. Anyone else have any thoughts of the 2nd Generation X3? Specifically, has anyone paired up an external amp to see if there is any validity using it as desktop source? I'm tempted to see how much the sound improves via portable amp as well, but I don't have one on-hand.

I don't know where else to put this so sorry if I'm being annoying... But can anyone explain why modified T50RPs (ZMF, Mr Speakers, Blue Monkey Flyer, etc) tend to have jagged FR graphs? Instead of a rather smooth curve, especially from bass to mids, they all tend to look a little rough. Maybe not enough to be noticeable to the ear, but still visible on the graph. Just curious if anyone cares to explain.

Is anyone using Google Audio Chromecast? If so, what app do you use to stream a file form your media library on your phone? I haven't found one yet that does it seemlessly. This is mostly for the wife and kids while I'm at work.

If I'm remembering correctly, the Liquid Carbon has a phase splitter implemented at the SE inputs. You should be able to get the full benefits of it's differential topology just using RCA's. The Jensen transformers will do the same thing, it comes down to if you think you'll be able hear the difference between the electromagnetic coupling of the transformers and the active components responsible for the splitting within the amp. (Which is better is debatable)

[Edit] Just realized that wasn't really what you were asking, damn reading comprehension. Still stand by most of what was above, it will come down to if you can hear the difference in how the balanced signal is created. I second just switching the RCA's though.

So, I just pulled the trigger on the Cavalli Liquid Carbon while there were still a few units remaining. Hopefully will receive later this month. I do not think I can go too wrong with this amp based on my recollection of listening to it last spring as well as discussions with others. I did listen to the Moon Simaudio 230 HAD again this past weekend at my local dealer and it synergizes very well with my PM-2 and gave it the sound I was looking for. But it seems still expensive at $1,500 and includes features such as DSD decoding that I simply do not need. But it is an attractive unit that comes with a remote. If for some reason I am not satisfied with the LC I could see getting the Moon after selling off the LC. But hoping the LC suits all my needs.

Ordered the LC for my HD650 and I too hope it's a match. But after hearing other Cavalli amplifiers I doubt I will be disapointed.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 15. Does anyone know how to get a line-out to the internal dac and bypass internal amp?

While I wait for my Gungnir to be Gumbied, I was thinking about getting a Wyrd to see what improvements it would make to USB (not that I'm anticipating any USB issues).

However, could I get a really low end sound card that goes into my PCI slot in order to add Optical out? I'm assuming that since it's digital, the sound card won't mess with anything? Or is this a less than ideal way to add Optical?

Looking at something like this ASUS Xonar, it's less than 30 bucks before the rebate http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-XONAR-Headphone-Audio-Card/dp/B0045JHJSS

You could go that route for optical, but my guess is a Wyrd + Gungnir Multibit USB input will sound better.

You MIGHT be able to find a decently priced, likely used, sound card with a good digital coax out that gets you similar performance. Key word "might." But probably not.
