Finally had a chance to listen to this properly through my usual set up (it was my laptop speakers yesterday), and I finally get what you mean about the homophonic vs the polyphonic parts. Funny thing is, my music teachers back in primary and secondary school probably tried to teach us something similar, but I couldn't be bothered to give a flying f**k at the time.
