    Portable: old iTouch 4th gen with ugly cracked screen/Fiio E12/AKG K545
    Transportable: Samsung laptop/Fiio E07K/K545 or ATH-M50 with HM5 pads (better comfort and isolation than K545, sound quality? not so much)

    How do you like the K545? I remember it having some tight bass and found it rather impressive for a closed phone, tho a bit v shaped

    Samsung Galaxy S4 -> Etymotic HF2
    Macbook Pro -> Geek Out 450 -> Etymotic HF2 / Sennheiser HD600 (very occasionally, I don't find it very practical to travel with)

    I use IEMs for the isolation, portability, and because they're low profile. On most days I find the Etymotics to be comfortable enough, but occasionally I find myself with sore ear canals.

    I love the bass quality and quantity is right on the money. There are not many headphones other than planars that are balanced between subbass and midbass. The only fault to the K545's bass and mid performance is a small dip in the lower midrange. When it comes to the upper half of the frequency range, there is a bit of a V shape. The lower treble near 4k is noticeably recessed and there is a bit of a treble peak between 8 and 9k, although it's not as bad as the measurements suggest. The top octave is too rolled off. Despite the FR anomalies it has been a noticeable upgrade from my old M50, and I am able to transition from listening with my HD600 at home to going outside with my K545 without feeling like I am missing too much. I'm not sure if I would feel this way if I didn't have access to an EQ though.

    Thanks for sharing your setup everybody. It's great that you can use all your gears outside. I am from a third world country, and it is not safe to go about your business with an expensive looking headphone (or expensive looking anything, really) while in public spaces. I'm using Fiio X1 or Sansa Clip Zip and Xiaomi Piston 3

    For portable use:
    diyMod 5.5 with 120GB ssd-> RSA Tomahawk-> Shure 535 or Etymotic ER4s

    Very happy with this set up.

    Moto X Pure Edition w/ USB Audio Player Pro > UHA6 MKII (ADA4627) > ER4S, UERM, or Amperior

    Not a very original setup around these parts, but it get the job done :D. The Leckerton is going to be swapped out for a Geek Out V2+ Infinity (whenever it shows up).

    iPhone 6 with EarPods or SR80i. Soon I'll get the 64 Ears Qi CIEM. I don't think I'll ever get a portable hifi player unless I decide I want more space for music. I've been looking at the AK junior, but I'm not sure I can justify anything over $200 for a portable player. I'll just use my phone.

    You don't need to try it out in public do you? Seems disconnected to me.

    If I'm traveling somewhere, I don't like to take an expensive pair of headphones with me. I'm always afraid they will get damaged or lost in transit. I also don't travel on long trips (more than a few days) that often. Perhaps a few times a year, so I just use my Phone (Galaxy Note II) and a pair of Koss Porta Pros. Decent sound, and they are collapsible with a small pouch for travel.
