Nobody is perfect man. We all make shitty decisions sometime. All you can do is own up to them sincerely and hope people can accept and move on. If not, there’s not much more you can do with hurt feelings other than to let them try to heal with time.

Get well soon Cap’n. If you have to stay in bed, see if using a wedge pillow helps. We tested several of them in the Autumn (my wife had a minor surgery), and found that Sleep Number makes a good adjustable one. A humidifier could help, but only if it’s cleaned daily; otherwise, it can easily make you sick. As always, be sure to stay hydrated with Smartwater/Walmart-equivalent, and stay away from booze.

He had a good reputation as an accompanist, which isn’t so common a quality amongst conductors. As an aside: I’ve come across two Japanese conductors who never had international careers, and whose fans are cultish (cf. Celibidache). I never looked into them because of that. I don’t even remember their names. Maybe Takashi Asahina (1908–2001)? But one genuinely great Japanese conductor and soloist is Masaaki Suzuki.

Pres. Biden is still the best candidate the Democrats have this year. As Michael Brendan Dougherty credibly observed, “There is… not another fresh body or bag of deceased bones in the Democratic Party labeled ‘FDR coalition.’ And that’s what they need to beat Trump, and he’s the last item. And so they will go with him until the very end… [N]othing short of death removes him from the ticket.”

The single best argument I’ve heard for Biden is that all the dirt’s already been dug up on him from the last election, the GOP has a big nothing burger with the Hunter Biden stuff. The best argument against him is that his continued support for genocide in Gaza is going to lose him so many votes that Trump takes it.
