I used to get calls at work from bill collectors at my desk... everyone on the floor listed their work number as the desk I sat at. I started telling them: “Oh sorry, you haven’t heard? X died in a drunk driving jet skiing accident last week.” Bill collectors stopped calling really quick once I fed them ostentatious stories.
On our landline phone, we got a "Smart Call Blocker" button, works wonders! Though I still need to setup its auto-blocking features, one of this days. Something like by a specific # range or just auto-block weird/international area-codes or unknown/private #'s or toll-free ones.
And I'm sure there is an App for blocking cellphone calls; my 7 year old "dumb" smart-phone has one, built-in.
@Kunlun, Yes, indeed, there is a way to deal with all such unwanted calls: "Thank you, but I am not interested..." You then hang up immediately. You don't even get to know how they replied.
Unless you call them back to ask. But that is probably too weird.
