Cool, would be nice to get ears on this. Still tempted to get a Stax set if and when finances allow, though probably something not as... unobtainable XD
@ultrabike: guess you could say Sennheiser, being the legend that it is, can be unusually... per-sway-sive.
@ultrabike Putting S, increasing prices, well then... (fingers crossed) @Lyer25 I like stax as much as I dislike.. haha. There are something good, but something really tricky (e.g. too limited amp choices) too...
@9suns Based on Japanese msrp, 009s is priced at JPY 460k and 009 at JPY 370k so 24% up. Anyway I am not very comfortable that 009s is now more expensive than lcd4 and utopia, let alone susvara. Thinking that all the mentioned products are overpriced. Maybe that's the essence of summit-fis though.
You make a good point, but, at least, the SR-009 (and probably the SR-009S) look and feel very expensive compared to the rest of the Stax line up, Audeze and Hifiman product lines are incoherent in that sense. Also, "upgrade nervosa free", the SR-009 has a 7 year lifespan, that's very respectable in my book.
Real talk, I was more focused on mid-fi stuff I could maybe afford from 2006-2014, pretty much ignored big boy talk apart from reading/watching the odd review. Having said that, seems like Edifier's making good use of Stax at least, which is something.
Yup. definitely. They know how to handle paying customers for high end products. And I also agree that Stax is "reliably" lazy to refresh their products. lol. That's good thing for sure!
Unfortunately I was divorced from 009 two yrs ago mainly due to tonality and amp nervosa.. (This is why I am biased toward this news... oh well.)
