I admire your stand against cable audiophoolery. Do not be discouraged by this one bad product. If you want to be sure of build quality, and no packing nasties: buy Blue Jeans.
Hifif kit used to come with cheapo free interconnects, and everybody, beginning with the dealers (not unnatural that want to sell as much as possible), assured us would lead straight to audio hell.
Of course, I drank the koolaid, but being a hoarder, I think I still have a bag of those things. Now I'm thinking: I bet there's nothing wrong with them!!!!
@Thad E Ginathom Hah! I mean, I'm sure there's some improvements to be had from better cables once the rest of a system reaches a certain level of hi-fi, but at my current audiophile level I'm just looking for something sturdy.
I've heard many good things about Blue Jeans cables! Just kinda worried about shipping to the Philippines. Will probably get something locally available instead when finances allow. Too much splurging lately!
Shipping to India, when I bought some, a few years back, was very quick and didn't cost much. I guess you will be ok getting them there. I think they might be doing their international business from UK.
Haha! @Thad E Ginathom I'm actually amenable to using EQ, but mods are nicer (IMO) if only because they don't change when I plug my cans into, say, a random phone :))
As for better cables, I'm thinking I'll just see what my local shops have in store, as per @bixby. While I do appreciate Blue Jeans having a great rep, I'm still at a stage where I'm more concerned about components than wires, haha!
@bixby "There is nothing magic about blue jeans..."
That's why I like them so much :)
I completely agree that any well-made cable with good components will do fine. I wouldn't say that Blue Jeans would be better. What I really like about the company is the educational material.
I referred so many people to their articles, so often, that when the rare day came that I actually needed a new set of cables, I thought I should put money and mouth in the same place.
