I'm usually a low volume listener and don't usually flip between players/gear in evaluations since it's harder to catch meaningful differences that way. Still, the hell I didn't catch it until I cranked the volume up on my rig playing Daft Punk just now, haha!
@44100Hz So far? I love the UI, think it runs well, sound is good (but it runs louder than foobar which is weird), the album art and lyrics have been spot on even for slightly more obscure tracks, and on the whole it's a neat package that lends itself well to listening. 1/2
No visualisation to speak of, though, and I don't believe EQ is baked in either for tracks that need it. Frankly, when I tried volume matching by ear between flipping players (very unscientific) I was hard pressed to identify any sonic differences. Could be my gear or listening skills, but $74 is a hard sell. Might yet buy it, but that's way up in the air. 2/2
I gave A+ on windows 10 a shot last night. The extremely limited options makes it a non-starter for me. Fb2k with the DarkOne4Mod v1 skin is miles ahead.
@44100Hz nope, nothing that I can discern after I noticed A+ was running louder— what tipped me off were those absolutely visceral bass hits at the end of Giorgio by Moroder, which sounded comparatively anemic out of f2k with my pot in the same position.
@LetMeBeFrank agreed, it's a good "set and play" program with a neat look, but that's about the long and short of it. Perhaps a paid version comes with more bells and whistles, but I can get those for free on f2k :))
