Season 6 is testing my ability to look for silver linings. It would have sucked hard if the show got cancelled after S5, but it seems like they got handed a ton of constraints with S6. Very short episodes, only 6 of them, and ~5 minutes of potential episode time is wasted on bonus content with mostly sideline stories (found under "X Ray" content).
There are grade A peak Expanse moments in S6 (OMG, the Liang Walker/Drummer interaction, for example), but overall it's making me nervous that it'll be a disappointing end to an amazing show.
So often it's better to end something before the fans want it to end. Firefly got this right. Arrested Development's last season was soooooo bad. The last Murderbot Diaries book shouldn't have been published. Sometimes you serve your fans by not giving them the last book/season/etc.
