Eve sc307+ts110. A bit old but still good. Despite the size, they don’t sound bloated even at low volumes

Huh. Didn’t like the DC Elite with the Synapse + CB19, thought it sounded excessively soft. I’ll have to try the DC07Pro in that config.

I didn't have any other iBasso dongles when I did my Fathom review, but I will say that among the myriad of things both portable and non-portable I had at my disposal, the DCElite was a considerable improvement in synergy. I don't want to gush, but the Fathom/DCE combo is the only combo where I *completely* forget I'm using IEMs.

Also, I usually listen 2 or 3 clicks up on the volume wheel with Fathom and the DCE, depending on the music/mastering. No discernable hiss whatsoever. iPhone->JDS Synapse->CB19+power brick

I'll also add that among the CFA IEMs I have/had at the time (AndroOG, SolarisOG, Moon Rover, Darkstar), none, and I mean none, synergized with DCE as well as the Fathoms.

Imma pair this with that dac that mixes and combines all dac chips in existence!

jokes aside - what were they trying to do here? i can't imagine all of those drivers working properly together on every single unit. especially if they want it to last for "a long time". or is this just for them to say "we did it".

I thought it was a joke when I saw this post and had to go look what you were talking about when I realized it wasn't - I'd love to see a cross section I can't even picture how they crammed all those things in that housing, has to be a nightmare for longevity/maintenance for sure

Since getting CIEM Fir XE6, I haven't touched any headphone. XE6 is not for everyone but there are many good IEMs these days.

Any hiss with very sensitive IEMs? My Jupiter seems more sensitive than my Nair.

Fathoms are 118 sensitivity and I don’t hear any hiss. I specifically got them for the low noise floor because I can’t stand hiss

I tried it for a bit running a 4.4mm to dual XLR into EC Af against BF2 (OG) and later against Yggdrasil LIM and felt the DCE was more comparable to the BF2. Both BF2 and DCE have a fairly weighty presentation, but not overblown, so both paired well with Af. I do feel that DCE plus CFA Fathom is just a gobsmackingly good synergy, for whatever reason, so that's how I tend to use it almost exclusively.

With few exceptions, such as Hindemith, I listen to very little classical later than Brahms. But I used to. The first composers I listened to a lot were Mahler and Bruckner.

Some months ago, I listened to a dozen versions of the 2d I hadn’t heard before (including Kapell), and concluded that I still prefer the Richter.

Richter has that classy, not gonna get personally involved, but do everything. I miss the restraint of the old masters. Seeing you don't listen past Brahms, I guess we both are structure/counterpoint lovers.

I’ve long accepted the fact that the great art is currently lost. I don’t know if the cause was the stagnation of the Austrian Empire, the Great War, or National Socialism. There isn’t a pianist alive who can play Chopin like Rosenthal (tho’ Perahia and Kissin working together *might* be able to reverse engineer it). The musical world is in a coma. But a coma doesn’t always lead to death.

@Claritas, I don't necessarily agree with Perahia, and not a fan of his tone, but I do have to respect his knowledge of harmonic structure(albiet its always schenkarian), and he does develop bass lines(Great in Brahms Intermezzi) instead of fidgetting around randomly calling for attention like Yuja Wang when she doesn't know what she's doing. Her Brahms intermezzo 117 is atrocious.

My favorite Perahia records are his Kreisleriana (1996), Mozart no. 18 (1981), Schubert Impromptus (1980 & ’82), and 32 Variations in C Minor (live 1989). So, yeah, nothing recent. His Bach is an also-ran, at best.

Oyaide as a whole is legit. Their marketing just looks ridiculous, like iFi but Japanese. I use their DJ-marketed interconnects as part of my monitor set up.
