UPDATE, seems it was resolved amicably (albeit not before HUB went on Twitter and put them on blast). Guessing there's just a lot of moving parts to as large an operation as headphones.com likely is.
there was a whole kerfuffle about LG not liking the content of a review or something, I dont remember the specifics, it was several years ago. they ended up buying the monitor in question and reviewing it anyways, and then I guess LG fired the PR company they were using and now Tim talks to people at LG directly
Seemed like it was just a situation of wrong banking info and probably time zone differences that caused this issue. Indeed we have a lot of folks at headphones.com now and hadn't intentionally left HUB unpaid.
@netforce I figured it was something along those lines cuz it seems like there're lots of good folk on your end. They're disputing the wrong banking info bit, but eh, just annoyed this seems to be bringing haters out.
@purr1n yeah it's a common thing in corpoworld it seems. You'd think HUB would be used to it by now perhaps, though the delay in this instance WAS pretty massive.
Separate departments handling different things more and more now. Me in the CS side of things, I didn't even realize we sponsored HUB and content arm of the team was unrelated but still got a lot of @ on twitter. Bosses stepped in and posted receipts that we tried to get banking info a few times and HUB didn't respond.
Ahh that does bite. Knowing how people can be on the internet I imagine not many people saw the evidence that you'd been reaching out, or at the very least not as many as saw the tweet (myself included).
@netforce it's been ages since I've had to deal with corporate chicanery, but I just hope this all gets sorted to everyone's benefit. Not a fan of how it seems like some things only get resolved via airing dirty laundry publicly (or how some people are eager to do so at a moment's notice), but such is social media. Hope you guys are all doing good.
Yeah I get it that sometimes this way is the fastest way to get pressure on a company but at the same time it literally had people in the twitter thread completely unrelated saying they were going to review bomb us as a result. Silly stuff but doesn't seem like I noticed that on where people actually rate us
Saw those as well, and given HUB's history I can sorta see why they'd draw a... protective sorta crowd, but this was just weird. Cheers A, may the rest of the week be less silly. Might wanna do a review of your sponsor spots to date lmao.
Yeah there is some overlap with HUB audience and audiophiles but not like its big. Think it was us trying out different sponsorships since we tried a whole bunch of different channels last year in the fall. Now we can see what worked and what didn't lol
