I picked up the smsl do400 dac/amp, $500, but I don't like it as much as my jot1/bifrost1 stack. It's going back. too bright and sharp in the treble.

Also, has to be said, reminds me how much I like my Schiit stack. Great staging and space around the instruments.

Don't both the Ragnarok and Yggdrasil come with remotes? :P

@Lyander you are correct sir. I guess I'm trying to be cheap because really all I want is a remote volume control. I dont really want to cough up the cash for a preamp like one of the sagas, just for the remote. But smsl was sadly a fail :(

Oh nah I fully get what you mean, I am ecstatic with where I am at the moment with the headphone rig, but I made the mistake of demoing a friend of a friend's Studio Jr. at their place for all of a quiet afternoon some time ago and I HATED how much of a step up that was. GAH.

But really, hope you find something that works! Looking forward to hearing of solutions.
