Perhaps at a later date it will be available as an order option or an upgrade option.

Is Gen 3 USB a significant improvement over Gen 2?

I doubt that upgrade will happen soon.
Just put a Uptone Audio Regen on the back of Gungnir Multibit and it's likely as good a USB source feed.

Hell, I put a Regen on back of Yggdrasil and it helps.

Nobody knows, man, no guy would put the Gun 3 in the Gungnir Multibit though many people bought Yggdrasil, Bifrost Multibit & Gungnir Multibit at the same time.

Or maybe the only time Gen 3 trickles down is when Gen 4 gets invented. The company needs to give customers reasons to buy their higher end products--trickle down tech is a bonus if and when it happens, not a given.

I don't remember where it was set to. Maybe 12-2 at full gain?

If memory serves Schiit mentioned the Gen3 vs Gen2 USB thing is a supply issue so they only put the Gen 3 in Yggdrasil for now.

Anyone here have any idea which input and output is the best on the Yggdrasil or Gungnir Multibit?

Not many NOS fans on this Earth, and most of those aren't going to also buy an expensive multisampling DAC.

That said, I'm on the Gungnir Multibit loaner list and will hear it sometime in the next month or two. I'll be comparing it to my Audio-GD Master-11 both in 8x oversampling and NOS mode. And, Metrum is likely to send me a review unit of the Musette, it just won't be for a few months yet.

Hopefully comparing the Gungnir Multibit <- Master-11 -> Musette will yield useful results. Eventually.

    I currently setup is Bifrost > Mjolnir 2 > HE1K
The Bifrost is only temporary (will be moved to my work setup soon).

My question to you guys is that, since I've the MJ2 and not the Rag, does it make sense to get the Yggdrasil over the Gungnir Multibit ?
In other words, if I get the Yggdrasil is that an overkill for the MJ2.

Sorry if this is not the correct thread to be posting this. But I figured the audience of this thread might be my best option.

Yggdrasil would be overkill for the mj2

unless your getting a mega uber summfit-fi amp the Gungnir Multibit is the better buy imo

Get the Gungnir Multibit. That would be a pretty amazing stack as it is.

Any significant gains would mean megabucks increases.

    Thanks guys.
To be honest, I am getting a little jumpy since the Gungnir Multibit is out of stock (for a while now) and they have Yggdrasil is in stock :)
I need to calm down and enjoy the stuff I got now.

Wonder what the real ETA on Gungnir Multibit (the ETA on their website is obsolete)

Just had a quick listening to Yggdrasil / Gungnir Multibit. Meet conditions, far from ideal, but some points were pretty obivous :
    - That f'ing bass ! Really awesome...I would'nt have ever believe my SR-Lambda normal bias could kick so hard in this area. Amazing.
    - Details. Lots of, without any harshness.
    - Transparency. I mean, except those two points above, there's nothing to say about them. No PCM1704 lushness, no DS/digital glare, no veil...everything is really natural, there's nothing to analyze, just listening to engaging music

    Some thoughts about ergonomics :
    - I do love Gungnir Multibit form factor. Small, neat...it will be mine probably sooner as I thought...damn, this hobby...
    - Gungnir Multibit unit was very temparemental on USB : several cables, several computers, Mac and Linux didn't see it. It worked on windows, and the only way to get it work on Mac/Linux was through some USB decrapifier. A bit weird since we didn't encounter any problem with Yggdrasil and Modi2uber (and several other DACs)

Whenever Jason or Mike are around, maybe they can explain.

This sounds more like a new show on Nickelodeon than a DAC "showdown"

(Wait a minute ! is it going to be on "Nick" ?) (Sorry my sinus infection has gotten the better of me )
