Just put on a Nagaoka MP100 on the 1200GR; first minute, first track, and it's a slam dunk victory over the 2M Red as an entry level cart. Aug 8, 2017

Will download tonight. What gear, specifically, is involved here?

Kronos Sparta, Zyx Omega Premium, Channel D Seta L Phono

Recorded flat (no RIAA) DSD128 to TASCAM DA-3000 then converted to 24/192 and RIAA applied digitally (with additional gain) and straight out to Apple Lossless. Didn't even open it in RX.

I finally got around to downloading and listening. Sounds very nice. You can definitely hear the difference in this vs the Tidal version of the same recording (thought it was the same recording from a best of so possibly different mastering).

A shame on Harman forever for running Greg out so unceremoniously.

That awkward feeling when mastered for iTunes 256 AAC sounds better than 24/44.1 FLAC due to 1dB headroom/no clipping/less compression... :I

Yup exactly... it's all about the mastering and good mastering practices!

I can enjoy a dynamic lossey file (256 AAC or 320 MP3) more easily than a squashed lossless file. (And yeah, I hear lossey artifacts.)

When I first read the MFiT rules, I thought maybe this would help bring an end to the Loudness War. I was wrong about that. I haven't listened to very many MFiT, but from what I've heard, they don't always enforce the rules.

I feel so bad when a (non audio) friend is excited about their headphones but the sound is crap and you have to let them down gently... :(

Had to look it up.. It was a Parrot Zik 2.0 bluetooth thing. Pretty fashionable, comfy on the head, auto detected when you removed it and killed the sound.

Unfortunately the drivers were slow and super undamped with no bass, recessed mids, really etched treble, and awful metallic tone... a total mess sonically. I guess the thing is 100% DSP controlled so you might be able to fix the frequency response a little (not enough) from the app but no way you can fix how bad the drivers were.

Yeah I got my brother the 1.0 a while back, because he specifically expressed interest in it and I wasn't going to try to talk him out of it. I only listened to 1 song but was unimpressed. Seems like lots of functionality tho

Discovery of the day: Sony MDR-V250 (or MDR-V150) is actually a really good headphone. Super listenable. $28!!!

Could you also pair Andromeda with the UERR output buffer and give impressions of FR?

UE pro line drive highly recommended for use with Andromeda from non 0 output impedance sources. Big improvement. I haven't stopped using it since I plugged it in. Be very careful with volume, you get the full sensitivity.

Is the HE1 impressions link busted for anyone else? Gives me "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

Something I uploaded for Shaizada. Figured I would share here. Kronos Sparta + Lyra Kleos + Channel D Seta L playing one of my favorite Jazz tracks. No digital post processing other then the Channel D digital RIAA filter + normalization. Recorded as DSD 128 with a TASCAM DA-3000 and converted to 24/192. (211MB)

Only going to keep it up for a few days so the copyright Gods don't come knocking...
