I use Project 64 and Dolphin to get my Zelda fixes. I love the ability to load HD texture packs and upscale the games. Most of my original hardware is broken or lost at this point.

I am also enjoying Mario Odyssey at the moment. Quite beautiful and full of WTF moments (of the good kind).

Hah, my man, my thoughts exactly. QT's approach all over the place! This is the first game for quite some time, in which I actually looked forward to cut-scenes.

I've read a lot of people complaining that the Wolfenstein II story is too short, and also has a lot of bugs. Do you reckon this is true?

It took me 9 hours to finish on Do or Die! (4/6) difficulty, which is quite long for a singleplayer game. There are also side quests that haven't been touched yet so those should bring you to 10-12 hours easily. It feels short-ish to me somehow though, compared to Wolf: New Order or even Old Blood.

As for bugs, I haven't seen any that's game-breaking but I assume that might vary for some rigs. I had this weird visual glitch with skyboxes but I rarely looked up anyway.

Yeah, server stability is a little bollocks. Yesterday I was in a fireteam doing the PvP part of the Rat King quest chain, and 2/4 of us were booted from the match, and one of the other team. I've also had a bunch of random DCs from specific locations- where I've had to just move to a different planet in order to stay connected. This is a pain when you're levelling an alt, or doing flashpoint stuff.

On one occasion, it was my ISP getting briefly DDoSed and only affected me and not others in my clan. Most of the time, the weirdness affects lots of people at once, though.

That said, when it's working, it's great. The campaign is awful (other than the Nathan Fillion comedy moments), but the general group PvE flows nicely. There are some rare moments of super-explodey fun that almost make it all worthwhile.

Going into the the Nightfall one last time before the week's reset, with my warlock set up as Dawnblade to compliment the other 'lock's Voidwalker was a blast with the prism modifier. We all carried void RPGs to burst down big targets when void came up, which bought a bunch of time for the push to finish with five minutes on the clock to get some Rat Kings.

My special coming up just as prism rolled around to solar on the last boss let me burn him down with Dawnblade spam- that was glorious, explosions and big numbers everywhere. We were slacking a little, he actually did get one shield phase- shame on us!

But yeah, a mixed blessing. When it's good, it's fun. Server stability is a bit suspect.

Is Zelda Ocarina of Time really that good? It sure was famous back then. I have been thinking of playing it on Dolphin. The only Zelda I've ever played is Link to the Past (snes).

For old RPG fans, I fully recommend Final Fantady 4 Remake on PPSSPP. I give a 10/10. Best remake I've ever seen. I enjoyed the original one back in thr 90s.

He was indeed. Not as strong as others, but I always squeezed him in the main group.

The 3DS version is the best way to play it. It's a remake that essentially looks how people "remember" the original looking.
It even has the original bugs deliberately replicated for fun:

I think it is. The music has not been beat by anything since, in my opinion. The story and characters were strong. The graphics and gameplay were strong for their time. As a total package, especially when it came out, it was phenomenal. It's impact when it came out plus strong nostalgia keeps it high in many people's opinions now, but it is definitely harder to go back and play it, even for me, since it is so dated. HD textures help a little bit, but the low polygon count, wonky camera, and low quality sound definitely could make it harder to see the charm and excellence that placed it in the upper echelon of all time great games if you weren't already a fan. I enjoy playing Twilight Princess more even when I wouldn't make the argument that it was a better overall game. Like Sqveak said, if you have a 3DS or feel like dealing with 2 screen emulation using Citra, I think that version might be a little more approachable since some of the characters and elements got a few more polygons and better textures. I still hope Nintendo has one more truly HD remake up their sleeves, but I have already accepted the fact that it won't likely ever happen. BTW, if you don't do the 3DS version, you should play using Project 64. I don't remember if the GameCube got a version of Ocarina, but Project 64 is the system that the HD textures were made for.

Yes, the cube had a version of Ocarina. I had the silver Windwaker edition of the cube, and it came with a copy of OOT in the box, in fact.

Hmmm, as far as modern remakes go, I really do appreciate Doom (2016)'s ability to channel all the good feelings of Doom (the original).

Nothing like a good rip 'n tear to alleviate stress!

Plus, how they made the music for doom is super interesting. One of the guys who worked a lot on that team gives a great presentation on it, it's an hour long and I highly advise watching the whole thing. Very entertaining and enlightening.

(Timestamp is for something I found particularly fascinating that I wouldn't have guessed about it)

If you really enjoyed Doom 2016, which I definitely did having best it like 4 times now. I would highly recommend watching the entire NoClip documentary series on it. One of the whole episodes is about the music as well, and he also had a whole interview with Mick Gordon about the making of the sound as well.

    Doom 2016 <3

I will give it a try in 3DS. Cant resist the gamecube version though. Should look better.

Anyone here a fan of Shadow Hearts? Shadow Hearts 2 is in my list of all-time greats. I almost cried at the ending. Poor Yuri. Amon anyone?

It doesn't. The 3DS version is a proper remake with higher resolution resources as well as higher poly models and some additional texture work.
The Cube version is essentially a lightly modified re-release of the original with more consistent frame rates and a slightly higher draw distance. I vaguely recall some minor graphical glitches with the alpha channel on some plant sprites too. Something like the edge of the texture being rendered as grey or black instead of transparent.

I have the third one but never finished it. The second is Covenant?

Yes the second one is Covenant. The direct sequel of the first one. You really gotta play the 1st one in order to understand and appreciate the main cast, Yuri.
