Yeah. Might have been the hype of getting a new headphone. I will have to do more comparing, but even so, the HD650 spends more time on my head than the TH-X00.
I do like the bass of the th-x00, but mainly comfort is an issue for me, even with dekoni sheepskin. To low clamp force, all weight on unpadded headband.
I'm happy with the x00 EBs, but granted, I haven't heard the 650s in a while. Friend loaning them to me to try with my rig, so might eventually sell em off too, depending on whether the Senns match my preference more.
How many notches do you get on the x00 headband? Metal bits seem like they could cause discomfort on larger heads (I'm at 3 clicks, and had to tighten them).
@Lyer25 I have a HUGE head. (It holds my huge brain.) I don't have clamp or headband issues on my Teak at all. They fit fine for the Cranially endowed.
I been listening to the THxoo over HD650 lately as my relatives are over and complain about noise leaking at night. Make sure potential roommates are happy with background music during their private moments or have IEMs available before selling.
I sometimes get the headache from the THxoo headband. Definitely try using a notch or two less then what you usually use. This helped me with the pain, and doesn't hurt the ears due to the low clamp force.
Interesting. Only real source of discomfort with these in my experience is all the sweat it generates— pleather does not breathe!
@elguapo Perhaps from friction against the cloth screen or back of the pads? Had that issue with other cans before (can't remember what they were, though).
If the third notch is only half visible, then I'd say we've the same size head, or if you're talking full, not partially-obscured-notches, you're about one above. Weird how these cans seem to be rather polarising on comfort.
Also, I've got fairly fluffy hair, or so I've been told. Never had an issue with headbands. Earpads, on the other hand, are another story entirely.
Third is fully visable. I have fairly fluffy hair as well. I usually do prefer a lesser clamp, but on these, it just doesn't seem to work for me. Also feel like they will slip off if I move. HD650 are just so comfortable to me, I feel like they were designed for my head. I might just get woodies for the HD650, if those are any good.
(REALLY wants to borrow those 650s now that it's been established head shape seems to be fairly similar, haha).
For what it's worth, good luck with the sale if you ever decide to let go of em! I also just now found out HD650 woodies exist. Pretty, but dang how do those sound?
When I was listening with stock pads, was experiencing sore spot on the 4th notch. It felt better for me going to the 3rd notch. With dekoni pads had to use the 2nd.
Guess my ears might be smaller. The pads were touching my ear lobe when it become comfortable for long sessions. The notch above was better placed for my ears thought but headspot.
