(I've got a pair of HE6SE and like them a lot. But I'm suitcase living for a while and looking for something to complement the Elex. For now, my amp is the Phonitor SE. DAC/streamer the iFi Neo Stream.)
Mostly curious how you both hear the Arya and HE1000SE. I see a lot of reports that the HEK series is technically good but on the softer side. And ditto for the Ayra but that it's a touch bright.
I would agree with that assessment, Arya I lowered the treble a touch with some EQ and the Susvara as well, the HE-1000V2 I was mostly fine with. Been using HE-1k v2 for last weeks and been digging it.
Do you find the technicalities substantially better with the HEKv2 (compared to the Arya)? Obviously, I'm toying with adding another HP to the (already too full) stable, and I sort of want it to be a nice addition, long-term, rather than something immediately forgotten about
when I get my Utopia and HD800 back with me. In lord knows how long. 6 months, a year, two years... I'm damned curious about the Susvara, but $$$ and also $$ for a separate amp. Might also look out for an LCD-4 on sale, but these HiFiMan models are intriguing.
Better than Arya, yes. Substantially better, no. Looking at them new back when Arya was $1599 and HE1k v2 at $2999, easy to rec the Arya. At new prices of $1299 and $1999, harder but I would go for HE1k v2 myself. Definitely both different enough from the HD800/Utopia that you should be happy with both
Susvara I would say definitely wait till you can have a nice full setup for it if you really want to go down the powering Susvara rabbit hole. Its fun but certainly not cheap lol
Lot of folks saying the Sus is the best thing going these days. Would love to hear it. But, yeah, adding a speaker amp to the mix may not be likely for a while. Never mind the $$$. Or rather £££.
The egg shaped models tend to have a wider stage and are softer, with highly detailed, yet less refined treble. When Susvara has enough current it's not soft.
