FS: Auteur Blackwood (with new and improved, post hacker violation pricing)

Well ok then - let's try this again. Shout out and thanks to our mate @Erroneous who did a bit of research (and prompted me to do more) into current pricing of this exquisite pair of headphones. I've always endeavored to price gear for the community aggressively, so I'm adjusting my price to reflect the current state of the market for this pair of headphones.

All that said, Friends and Contributors can have these for net to me, $1,200.00

 

This is an insane price for one of the best dynamic driver headphones around, IMO. Someone buy these before I do something unwise.

 

Anyone coming from the US to EUR in next couple of weeks?

Just an unrequested nudge, I'd jump on this one in a heartbeat if I had the funds....from everything I've heard/read about Auteur, the Blackwood is the "Gold Standard" as to how the wood impacts the sound. Honestly either one (ZMF November/Blackwood) is a good move for you I'm sure...I like to keep the good stuff in the "family" as it were though.

 

I just bought a Manchurian Ash Auteur like a week ago, so the fact that I’m still tempted by these is a testament to how good a deal this is. I have almost made up my mind to splurge on a Blackwood VC, but I can’t resist seeing what pops up during the rarities/b-stock portion of ZMF November.

I’ve lusted over Blackwood Auteur’s for a while though, so if these don’t sell in the next few days I may have to cave and buy them to compare to my Ash set.

 

For other folks on the fence, I actually had the opportunity to hear quite a few different woods with both the eikon and the Auteur due to gear cycling/a shipping damaged set. I currently have a Wenge Auteur which is the hardest of the wood I got to try, and it sounds by far the best. Blackwood is another level on the hardness scale though, I imagine it sounds glorious. My rules of thumb for ZMF after trying a variety is softer woods for closed-back and hardest possible wood that your neck can handle the weight of for open back.

Damn.... Just.... Damn..... I already have two sets of headphones delivering Saturday. Do I justify buying these by holding a shootout/comparison?

Do the shootout/comparison to expand your knowledge base and further the education of all who read it. I vote for gaining knowledge. I vote purchase.

I just couldn’t handle it any longer.

Will be selling my teak Auteur at a nice discount after I do some comparison listening. These are fantastic headphones, especially with higher end tube amps, y’all are fools for letting me snag the extra pretty version.

Also gonna second the deeply appreciative sentiment, these are a fantastic deal.

 

They're not just extra pretty. Going from teak to blackwood will not be a small change. Just try not to throw the teaks at a wall after you hear the Blackwoods, and don't talk shit about them online until they're safely in the hands of your buyer.

 

I hope the sale closes, otherwise I'll cave in and get these as my second set of Auteur blackwood Seriously, I have a pair of those here, and they are so good that I miss them when I'm at my "city" location even though my ZMF complement there is unimpeachable.

 

Haha, will do. I look forward to comparing. Since I use the suede pads, switching those between each will slow down the comparison process.
